This is a reskin mod which ports original AoE1 Rise of Rome graphics -including unit icons and terrain features, into the new Return of Rome DLC.
For me this is the best AoE1 experience available, combining quality of life improvements of AgE2 engine, with the beautiful and well animated graphics of the original game.
Big thanks to WAIfor for SMX workshop and SLD extractor, and Tevious for SLX Studio for making this possible. Also credit to Proseon5 / 5thLegacy mod for the silver color Heavy Cavalry graphics.
Installation:
1. Navigate to your Aoe2DE mods folder. By default it should be like this: C:\Users\username\Games\Age of Empires 2 DE\big number\mods\local (if you don't have mods folder, create it)
2. Move the unzipped Rise of Rome reskin folder to "local" folder
3. In Age2 DE: click gear > mods > installed mods > enable Rise of Rome reskin
The first mod for Return of Rome has entered our Granary - Wow! This looks incredible! I have seen a few screenshots of this reskin mod a few days ago on discord, which looked very impressive, but you really need to experience it in-game. Man, this is mouth-watering, especially if you are a fan of the original game graphics.
All the original unit animations are there, as well as the original terrains and resources which look suprisingly good in Return of Rome! Leave it to the Age community to continually improve upon the games we love. Timoteus and the other fans involved have done an amazing job and you should download the Reskin mod now if you haven't done so. Fantastic mod.

I followed the footsteps but in the mods menu on AOE 2 DE RoR there is an exclamation mark next to the mod reskin. The graphics remain the same. Has anyone else encountered this problem? How can I activate the mod?
