The Legend of Ur

Author File Description
File Details
Difficulty: Moderate
Version: Rise of Rome
This scenario is a lot of fun, as it has several different elements and a few surprises as you progress in the adventure. You will start as a lone witness of the destruction of your people and will be forced to escape. More often than not, you'll have to think really hard, as there are multiple ways to overcome certain obstacles, while others are well adjusted to allow only one option, which means you will probably die a few times during this adventure. Save regularly!

There are multiple enemies (ranging from wild animals and lonely archers to entire civilizations), but the difficulty is not that hard once you figure out what you need to do. The map is very compacted, so you will never be left wandering. Just remember that, if you get killed, chances are you need to rethink your strategy.

Even when this is just one scenario, it is more than enough to ensure a few hours of fun, with a surprise and abrupt ending awaiting for you right in the last few seconds of playing, which, I hope, will left you completely satisfied.

Also, there is quite a lot of room to build and grow your own empire without fear after the first hour or so. You will be granted time to find resources and explore, choosing from a wide range of options that will be presented to you without any need of dialogue.

The idea is that you never get bored or frustrated, but at the same time, I wanted to present you with a real challenge that should be pretty similar for anyone regardless of the level of skill or experience. By this I mean novice and experienced players will find it challenging but beatable. Also, changing the difficulty won't have any noticeable effect on this scenario.

This is my first scenario, one I've been thinking of for many, many years. However, I have tested it several times. So, you don't need to worry. It has no glitches as far as I know. Also, I've done my best to use as many features as humanly possible to make it look beautiful, diverse and engaging.

Any criticism is very much appreciated, as I am really curious about how people will react. Also, I'll be playing and commenting other people's scenarios, but I will give pryority to those who take the time to play mine.

By the way, this scenario is compatible with AOE The Rise of Rome and AOE Gold.

If you liked this scenario and want to play something else done by me, feel free to check "The Forbidden Mountain":

I have updated this scenario with a few extra visual/gameplay elements to make it even more interesting. Also, after thinking about it, and after playing scenarios made by other people, I think this scenario is more like a role-playing game than an strategy game. In any case, I hope the people who download it find it interesting and enjoyable.

If you made it with AOE:ROR, then it's not compatible with AOE1 (plain version), because you saved it as an scx file, whereas AOE1 uses scn files only.
rakovsky So this file should be moved to the "Rise of Rome: Single Player Scenarios" section.
Makes sense I guess, thanks for pointing it out Rakovsky
