The next (and sadly final) version of the Age of Italy mod is finally ready.
This version is pretty much complete on the data changes, save for some balancing. But on the graphical side a lot more was intended. Deathmatch games are fully functional, random map is not (no AI files).

Thanks for your praising review cavarly_7.
This is still a work in progress, and be assured there will be more changes in graphics in later versions. But this will only include limited changes in unit graphics, since they are a lot of work. But skirmishers and trade units are first on the list to get a new graphic. |

In the download there's also a textfile with some instructions.
I plan to make a step by step installation instruction with pictures in the future, but havent found the time for it yet. |

It sounds like a really exciting mod. Is there any chance that you could fix how OP the bolder-thrower is? The accuracy is unnatural and unrealistic and it takes all the fun out of things. |

I hope to have achieved that already. All artillery has become, in my opinion, much less effective against units. They do get a very high attack and have good accuracy, but their slow rate of fire makes up for that. If I reduce their accuracy, they will fire slow, and if they fire they'll miss, making them entirely useless against units.
Try it, and give feedback about what you like and don't like. I take everybody's opinion in mind when making this mod, but obviously I can't satisfy all.
Though there has been few progress on a new version, I still work on it. |

Thanks for your advise. I did already know it exists, and already have it installed too I think, I just never really started to use it.
I've reached a point in the modding process, where changing to this new editor seems more like extra work, than a timesaver. I've got all my data in textfiles per civ and a batchfiles that copies that data to patches.txt and then autoruns rord. For the relatively (relative to the huge ammount of changes I made so far) limited number of changes I'm going to make for the data file I'll stick with RoRd.
After the mod is finished I'm 100% sure retiring from modding, and maybe from heavengames in total. Real life is getting more and more busy and serious. I'm a university student and sport about 5 or 6 times a week. It's just hard combining all that. Right now, modding and such seems more like a distraction from my life than just fun to do. But as said, I'll finish this mod, hopefully next summer.
Btw, just curious: How did you learn how to mod? Self-learned, scenario tc's tutorial, my tutorial or something else? |
