Hersifon was a simple man...so simple that few considered him a soldier. This Carthagian "villager" often received letters from friends in other lands, which was very rare amongst the anti-social Carthagian people, the "hermits" of the ancient world.
Hersifon's letters contained everything from Christmas greetings (but there was
no Christ!), birthday presents, and information. Occasionally, his distant
relatives would even try to put him in work, something he always rejected. He
never, ever, wanted to work, for anyone, or anything. That was, until the letter
he received today... |

Playability: 3.6
This scenario was enjoyable to play, and posed quite a challenge. It was quite an easy concept in most cases, just hard to do with your limited resources. The use of all 8 players made it challenging, and more interesting than if there had been less.
Balance: 4
The balance was good in this scenario. It was very easy to lose (you had to protect a villager), so careful navigation was required. Enemies were dangerous, but only if you walked into them.
Creativity: 2.2
I'm afraid that I don't think this scenario was particularly creative. Essentially a Fixed-Force scenario, you progressed through the map completing objectives, which were not particularly original. "Kill this Leader" "Bring Object to Area" "Destroy this object", were the main conditions.
On the good side, the inclusion of Buildings along the way that help you advance and research was a good idea. The conditions, although plain, were varied.
Map Design: 1.5
Well, this has really let down the scenario. The map design wasn't awful, but it was basically an edited Random Map.
I don't approve of this, since its not your work but the computer's, and map making should be at the core of designing. Why use a Random Map when you can make a whole new world of your own? Sure, it might take a little longer, but really rewards you when you finish.
Positively, I did like the cliffs and waterfalls, which blocked in the boats, but that's all I can say was good really.
Story/Instructions: 3.3
The story was fair, a little weak in some places, but helpful nonetheless. All History, Hints and Scenario Instructions were filled out, with reasonable spelling, punctuation and grammar. The Objectives were clearly shown, and worked as they should in the game.
However, a bitmap was not included. This can really help a player to know where to go and what to do if they do not already fully know. I suggest that next time this would be a major thing to include.
Additional Comments:
For future reference in getting a higher score:
- Include a Bitmap.
- And make the map yourself!
These things really add the edge to what makes a good scenario to play, and a great one.
It also shows you care a lot about the designing which is what people like to see.
And, one last thing. I tend to play scenarios with Villagers in twice to see if I can cheat the way its supposed to be played. If I can't it shows that the designer has tested and made sure that there is no way but theirs to win.
On yours, I could easily just destroy the Town Center, re-build it and lead a huge army to win. So make sure in future as well that people can't take an easy way out.
I hope you find these comments constructive and helpful towards improving your work G1GGY.
Download Recommendation: Yes. Aside from the map, its a good challenge.
