We have a lot of work to do as the death of the Zone approaches.

I am hoping this forum can serve as a place for Zone players to keep in touch after the Zone closes. Players can post their MSN Messenger name here, as well as plan AoE/RoR games.

We are also going to bring ladder games back after the Zone closes.

I am considering posting my Zone Friends list for both my names. This would serve as a reference to show who knows about Age of Empires Heaven, and who doesn't. I want to make sure everyone in our community knows about our forum here.

Long Live Rise of Rome!!!

Can you survive the Blitzkrieg?

Well I understand Thompson playing COD4 and RCTW and then playing aoe and study it is really hard to be good at 3 games at the same time and then study and Suppiluliuma it doesn't matter you suck, I started playing 1 year and a half I usually suck too much that I couldn't even really play campaign games I used to suck like you guys do but after training vs computer and then got beaten badly on GR until someday I had level up.

The best way to learn is to practice first vs computer and then follow my steps of learning, I taught one guy andaluz he didn't even really knew what units to use he totally was the suckiest player, now he is known as one of the low experts can beat many inters and rooks.

Now I will start the first training will be create a lan, multiplayer game vs computer 1st map inland huge map size, computer easiest, make 28 villagers start with the normal berries strat, put 6 villagers on the start and chop wood the way you play and get 120 wood and make a pit near woods
and leave 6 villagers on the pit.

Make more granaries and more pits near animals and make some docks near fishes it doesn't matter to upgrade anything tool and then bronze age. With F11 check the time post me a screenshot of timeline and achievements if you can't then just tell me the pop and bronze time in timeline but it is better to take a screenshot because people can tell lies without a picture if will probably an imaginary strat it doesn't matter if you bronze in 22 or 25, I will try to help you by the process of training.

If you can upload a video on youtube it will be better the quality doesn't matter as long as villagers are seeing; and what strats are employ.

Practice the same map once a week at least 1 hour and a half just practice your speed bronze and then resign or play if you want to beat the computer. We are just focusing on speed, the rest doesn't matter. We will have this assignment for 2 months until you actually improve your time.

A main example is this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMkO4hSHz9c

Try to learn hotkeys H town center and C create villager, CRTL 1 assign any unit and ALT 1 recall unit.

I only get better from experience - people telling me to do things never really works for some reason...im a more practical type of person.

My bronze time ranges from 14-18 minutes if that means anything.

Bronze 17 minutes or longer means you are still an inter player bronze time or maybe you are rusty.

The best way to improve time is to learn hotkeys, put less people on wood on the first pit example 6 villagers, and then search for food; practice first on reveal map.

http://www.rornews.net

You got a check a lot of videos and learn how they do fast times, there is a trick wood is gathered slower than food you need to balance resources to get faster times; gold and stone are the slowest source of gathering. You need to practice playing and studying that is how you will get better really fast.

I bronze in 15 minutes when Assyrian and if unbothered, the problem are the rushers because when I'm brozing they beat me. Most great players are rushers and I lose 11 out of 10 times. I get pretty...upset when I lose and as I've never won a MP game i was always upset when I played RoR online, so I dropped it.

Maybe you'd be good playing vs me - i hate rushers coz it ruins a good game...its the reason why i hate starcraft II so much, and it seems that the same (10 minute games = fun???) trend is leaking into most RTS games.

So perhaps we should hit up a game sometime Suppy :P

Probably bronzing in 15 minutes is not bad. You will need to improve your bronze time with practising skills. I will recommend pick a video in youtube from Age of Empires Rise of Rome a strat or a game you like then link it here, I will explain to you, how fast did he bronze, what techniques.

Rushing is part of the game, when you play on a team game you will probably not worry much about rushers more in your team strats.

I wouldnt go that far to say that rushing is part of the game. If you rush and fail, you've basically lost the game - so rushing is actually risky especially if you bronze at the same time as your opponents. (Chariot archers are so easily countered by camels its not even funny!)

I've only tried rushing a few times in Tool Age, usually it is the default chariot archer or cavalry strategy, although I have tried different strats lately...

I really want to see more of you guys on here playing, since I've only watched plismo once and played vs plismo and Zambia a few times...

Bringing multiplayer activity is always welcome. Also i don't see how a 10-15 minute game could be seen as fun...you don't even have time to blink!

Probably every new player hates rush, including me when I was a total rook. In fact, after gaming too much you will understand why rush is fun and fair. Blitz used to be really good I was like inter but I managed to beat him in a 2 v 2 bronze in 13:40 and beated him at sea and land and rjet finished him but it was not fair, because rjet is not rook; without rush probably a player like blitz or any other known gp that is in high level can beat you a 3 v 1; if rush is allow then a 3 v 1 can't be done unless the expert bronze in 12 or 13 with good economy.

I'm not exactly a new player though (Been playing for 12 years haha) i just find that 10 minute games are boring and a waste of time - and find that 30-120 minute games are much more fun

Of course some people only play to win, and it shows in their arrogance, attitude and playstyle. They are the people who will chariot archer rush every game because they consider it...fun. So what happens is I either i dont bronze fast enough and I lose in 10 minutes, or I bronze fast enough and camel counter their chariot archer spam and they ragequit. In eithe case its a short game and hence a waste of time for me.

Starcraft II, rushing seems to be the only tactic people use, and it's annoying because if you dont have the correct "build order" of units you lose automatically. Hence the only good players always have the same initial strategies, and resources in starcraft are in literally the exact same places, as oppose to AOE. Just seems like a waste of time - probably why i play games like Men of War and Civilization more

I don't really prefer rush either - just I tried it out a few times... Also I was getting sick of the chariots in rm at times, but I like trying Yamato, I might try Shang for camels + chariots. Some "rooks" always pick Hittite, put no rush on (you can make this a rule if you want) and then you get chariots followed by cats and scythes or HA after they Iron...and they are really inters or gp's due to their eco methods...

The problem with Yamato is that once you lose the gold mines, you are dead... Egy is fun because you can hide next to a forest on larger maps and make scythes which come out of nowhere.... The enemy would either have to tower every forest or search for you constantly, which most players don't on 3v3's, especially in areas closer to their own base or away from gold mines.

Remember the "noob" games we used to play at school where people actually made entire armies of Cataphracts or surround their base in balista towers and walls to try a wonder strategy...The "all units and buildings allowed" DM seems to have disappeared a bit, you can get "reg" DM where most people seem to think it is Cho or Hitt, and get all fiesty when you make walls... In fact, people seem to hate walls period in DM's nowadays.

This is an example I used to play in Guatemala CS counterstrike; most of the players here were really bad anyone playing against any player we got beaten really bad; now the fun thing that most players on there are actually really good now; after all the hard practice from our community at CS; I still carry skills for CS but I prefer AOE. Nothing compares on why I laugh some people thinks they will be good forever and unbeaten.
