One reason I like AOE because in many scenarios you can play your way, in order to make a final "victory" condition more difficult to achieve. My favorite is "Coming of the Huns" in ROR. Why? I play to victory by building a wonder but I also allow the Huns and the Goths to finish their wonders. I just have to finish mine first.
Am I the only player to finish the scenario this way? Surely there are others out there who have accomplished this,

My favourite among the official ones is Ctesiphon. I find the developers really did a nice job in the design of it, even if gameplaywise is not as interesting.

Phatfish, to be honest I think the DE version of Battle of Tunis is extremely close to the original. What makes you think that is not the case?

I can't say it was shameful or that they didn't put effort on improving the AI.
A far as I can tell they worked with the same engine as the original AoE engine. Could the AI be improved further in that engine? I think it would be like trying to run Crysis I in a TI-82: not very likely to be even posible.
But maybe I am wrong....who knows :b
