The expansion is looking promising, we are steadily doing our own part at our own pace and have made (and not made) multiple decisions regarding the expansion. Wish us luck, if you would be so kind.

Features:
Indian Building Set
4 new Civilizations - Alpha stage bonuses
X new Researches (Decided on)
5 new Units (Decided on)
New Interfaces
New Menu Backgrounds (Working on)
Game improving features
New Soundtrack (Working on)

Hurdles:
Turtle Pack Glitch, when two darkest player colours do not change player colour
Anything that is hard coded.

I would ask that people on the team would refrain from publicly sharing what the new content is in the expansion for now.

This is already in the game (it was added in RoR), unless you're referring to something else that I'm just not understanding here.

Yeah, I mentioned that before as well. These are features in RoR

Epd, please edit or remove the "Game improving features like: the ability to double click a single unit, select others of the same unit-type and unit queuing, selecting more than 25 units" in the OP.

Did a campaign designer join you? Like i said you shouldn't overlook that.

I'd really like to play an indian campaign with the new graphics and features.

Are you going to add my units or some others?

Chab could help with some of hte hardcoded issue. For example if you want land trade i had couple bugs while implementing it, same for the trade workshop gold generation.

Yes, it has been quite. I haven't discussed anything further with the rest of the team in regards to sharing information so I won't be letting anything slip, however it has been lonely in the Skype group chat as well, as many of us having a break. I will say that the data is almost finished and we just need to make a few changes till it is ready for beta testing.

@knightse72, we have already decided on what civilizations will be in expansion, sorry.

Can we replace the Persians Elephant +50% move speed bonus with +150 health for cavalry. The Persians although they did use war elephants they were never that big on them. However the Persians were infamous for their Super-heavy cavalry

Don't worry, the individual had already read your message and is interested in what you've suggested.

Most users (aside from some moderators) need to change there names on name change day which is generally around April 4th.

Logically for the Beyond the Indus expansion I would recommend map types based on environments that can be found in Afghanistan, India and the Southeast Asia region.

If we ever get to do a Northern European and Balkan culture pack I would like to see a map based on Age of Empires 2's Black Forest

Wouldn't hurt to add a delta map, where players start in the desert, which has lots of mines, but little wood or food, while the delta itself has lots of food (berries and fish, some eles and gazelles) and wood.

Of course it's reason is due to the Indus Delta.

I thought delta was a letter of the greek alphabet, what do you mean by delta? I know there is the Nile Delta from Forgotten Empires, but it's not a map I would use and you didn't mention water in your description.

Could you elaborate further on what map types you wish to see, you've mentioned Black Forrest, what else? What would you class as a southern-asian map type?

I have an update!

We have decided on what units, technologies and civilisations to add to the game. We would like to share with you what we have currently for civilisation bonuses.

Civilisation Bonuses

Hope you enjoy your sneak peak, be sure to give feedback on what you think of the civilisations and their bonuses. I would like to tell you that the project is now absolutely terrible and no hope for the age of empires Rise of Rome community. At least we made it this far, there is still much to be done so we'll try our best but don't count on it.

I'm glad to hear that I'm looking forward to seeing the new civilisations come to life. All the information that is there is final and will be used in the expansion unless beta testers say otherwise.

This is pretty awesome here. It sure was a good idea to be making an expansion mod that focuses on India as the Indian civilization and it's history has been missing in AOE1 for quite a long time until now. By the way, will there be the tiger and cow units being added? Sure love to see those. Also, is the Alligator going to be replaced by the Crocodile?

Aoe had no herding animals so there is no point in having a cow.
The alligator renamed to a crocodile will do just fine but I don't see much in game use of it. A tiger maybe but again india has lions so again not much ingame value.

With the new version of aoe coming up are you guys still continuing on this project?

This is just an opinion so you are free to follow it or not.

I think it would be a good idea to continue for two main reasons (besides the personal ones the creators may have):

1-This is a learning process and if you keep working on this you will keep learning.

2-Maybe what you learn and do in the original games coul be implemented in the definitive edition.


We'll see how this goes.

I've already said it on the discord, but I will say it here aswell.

And every unit upgrade existent in Age of Empires uses the base model set but adds something onto it, so logically and stylistically it would make sense to keep the normal scout's tunic, abeit with the addition of the shield, and "bandoilers".

Don't cite the Short Swordsman's design (since they have no pre-cursor unit) South East Asian setting or "because it looks cool" because when making an expansion, whether fan-made, or official always keep the styles, and themes consistent. Aswell having the player color tunic would make it:
A) Easier to see
and most importantly B) Provide more contrast with the aforementioned "bandoilers"

You guys are doing a great job.
the idea of you should be used for a new official expansion of age of empires: definitive edition. unfortunately I am neither programmer nor desainer. but I would like to make suggestions.
for new units, they could use:
1) Slinger upgrade: strong slinger (Bronze age).
2) Camel rider upgrade: armored camelry (iron age).
3) flamethrower, but it should also have bonuses against buildings or minimum towers (iron age).
4) An upgrade to Archer's Elephant (Iron Age).
5) An update for archer charriot (Iron Age).
6) An upgrade to Axemen (Bronze Age).
7) An upgrade to Scout (Bronze Age).

the Indus mod you are creating should be availed for a new expansion of the Age of Empires Ultimate Edition. As you said Epd999, you have already defined what the new units will be. Could you tell what they were? and if any of the ones I mentioned will be in the game? if flamethrower will be one of them?

Those are all very close guesses to what units will be in the unofficial expansion but at this point it's confidential. We did consider adding those units but we haven't added all of those units in your list.

I will say that the Flamethrower will not be in the unofficial expansion.
