I'm actually quite interested. If this trailer has any connection with the real gameplay it seems to have a more in-depth economy and building system, much more natural looking cities and a much bigger scale of war. It could potentially be the perfect blend of Age of Empires, Rise of Nations, Knight & Merchants, Total War, Anno series, BFME etc. If it will work, we'll have to see. It might just turn out to be AoE:Mobile full of microtransactions.

It doesn't show much actual gameplay mechanics and features though. If it has a good system for designing custom content and modding for example.

I was actually expecting something really different, more towards Company of Heroes realism. I'm a little disappointed, but let's see more footage to settle on a opinion.

AoE2 is the more popular game because it has more refined gameplay, not because the historical era is actually better.

I guess it'll be fun to see what the people at Relic will do with the Age series. The trailer looks pretty impressive but I keep my expectations for the final product grounded.

I agree that the gameplay is what made AoK more popular, however, I also think that the medieval era helped on that popularity. People relate more to the (theirs) middle ages civilizations, maybe with the exception of people from Italy who probably prefer the Roman times.

marcelomoura10, I prefer AoE over AoK. Oh, wait, I'm in Italy, you got me.

Hahahaha. I'm from Brazil, so I have no ancient or middle ages history. In this case, I'm free to enjoy AoE more than AoK as well.
