Hello everyone, I apologize that we haven't been keeping up with the rapid update schedule of Definitive Edition. At the end of March I asked you what you would like to see most from a future patch, and you responded thusly:

Improved AI (26%, 23 Votes)
New Gameplay Content, Units, Techs, etc. (24%, 22 Votes)
Stability/Bugfixes (12%, 11 Votes)
New Campaigns/Scenarios (12%, 11 Votes)
Ranked MP Matchmaking (9%, 8 Votes)
Modding Support (9%, 8 Votes)
Automatic MP Map Sharing (6%, 5 Votes)
Other (2%, 2 Votes)

Total Votes: 90

However as I'm sure most of you know already, during the time this poll has been running three additional updates have been released, bringing us up to the current Update 11. These updates have brought us several of the proposals listed in the poll, including Ranked MP and updates to the AI. Still, I have a feeling most of you still do not consider the computer player to be the sharpest knife in the drawer as the votes have kept coming in for improved AI.

For our next poll, we have listed all the units up until the Iron Age in order to ask you: What is the most effective rush unit?

In other news, our site has been changing quite a bit. You may not see much difference, but in the background Pecunia has been making a great work getting us https certified. For now http requests are not redirected to https, but if you came here through your adress bar you may view the "new site" here. As this is brand new we have been asked to be on the lookout for bugs such as page resources not loading correctly (Look at that, I can already spot the headline font in the sidebars is missing!) or other adverse effects. As always if you spot any problems make sure to leave us a note in the website feedback forum.

I've seen quite a few scout rushes in DE lately. They ARE op now lol. No idea why they changed it.

Weren't scouts really weak before? Balance is a trial and error process...too bad I don't think we will see any patch before the steam release. Hope the devs continue to support the game afterwards instead of pushing it aside in favor of aoe 2.

Yeah, at 100 food there was little room for military deployment of the Scout. It wasn't particularly useful for its titular purpose either, as you could normally just explore with your villagers and spare the 150 wood for the stable + 100 food for a single scout. Reduced food cost and auto attack has really given the unit a new purpose which I don't believe was intended in the original, as an early game harassment unit.

yeah the original intention was probably... to scout the map.

For that, scout unit should have been less expensive, and have less attack points (as it's not supposed to be used in combat)

In the DE tournament, of the three players that were interviewed and each being semifinalists they each gave a different opinion as to what they thought was the best rush. This was when Scouts could auto attack properly and not what it is now and am interested as to what those players think now.

Memonsoun, runner up in two tournaments in the series, said Slingers. SoiGia, who won the first tournament, said Scouts and shows a fine display on their effectiveness throughout Shang in Shambles and IronSteel who won the first DE tournament, said axeman.

We can see later in Clash on Crete which followed his victory on Shang in Shambles that SoiGia tried Scout rushing after the patch and was knocked out in the quarterfinals.

I also think it's a misconception that Chariot Archer rushes are the best rushes in the game, at least in 1v1's, because even in island maps the meta has shifted to landing an opponent and rushing them with axers.
