A feature formerly only found in Age of Kings, now has made it's way to Age of Empires! As per special request from me, Chab has now added this wonderful tool to CustomizeAoE. If you have ever tinkered with AoK's editor you probably know the power of Map Copy. It can copy parts of a scenario onto other scenario's, or add the same part somewhere else on the map without having to design it all over again. Or even copy an entire map to another! This saves you an enormous amount of time, in case you want to re-use certain scenes or design features again.
In Age of Empires, it works the same way as in AoK. When youpress F4 in the scn editor - you can select the "zone" or part of the map you want (providing the relative coordinates, along the x/y axis of the tile based map), from the beginning coordinate point to the end. Then, select wether you just want terrain or also want to include all objects present, and then press the Copy zone button. Set the coordinates where you would like to paste the copied part, and then press Paste and then the OK button - voila! You can also use the mouse-coordinates (activated by default, or press F2 when you have not selected a unit to see the current x/y position) to paste the zone exactly under your mouse cursor. Everything is preserved - from terrain to elevation to unit orientation.
Try it out anddownload CustomizeAoE!
Mind that if you upload someone else's work (or a copied part of it) to thedownloads section it will be removed, and you will get a warning and a possible ban.
