These are not your typical AoE buildings, at least not those found in the version you currently own. They are from the development stages of Age of Empires and offer a glimpse into what has been lost during the finalizing process. Here we have two new buildings:
Early Barracks:
Early Pyramid:
Although the Pyramid has been available for your viewing pleasure it was only partially visible (cut out and taken from an AoE trial screenshot), but this time it is here in full glory. Seems ES went through quite a few changes for the common Barracks as well. If you are interested in seeing other beta buildings, units and screenshots of the early stages of the game, gohere.
Amongst the other new materials found are original 3D Studio Max renders for many of the buildings found in AoE, which 3D artists Sean and Duncan McKissick, former members of Ensemble Studios, created - which is an amazing discovery. I have had the pleasure of viewing most of these already - but there is a catch - only a few of the textures and materials used in these renders still exist and therefore almost all buildings cannot be rendered into their original state (in understandable language: this means only the "building skeleton" is available). Below is a 3DSM screenshot of a Town Center that never saw the light of day:
There is more to come.
