Hi, all!

I would want to ask the AoE1 scenario designers here (while I am an AoE2 scenario designer and modder): Will anyone of you interested in an altered dat file that allow you to put all kinds of hidden units under gaia player tab?

Besides the Granry, you can also download it here:

AOE:ROR
http://gesneo.hp.infoseek.co.jp/empires.zip(put in Data2 folder: smokes are not included)
AOE:
http://gesneo.hp.infoseek.co.jp/empires1.zip(put in Data folder: working villagers are not included)

============================================================

All Hidden Units v0.8 (*.dats) - AoE, RoR

============================================================

Ingo van Thiel: "Great discovery, lots of new toys to play with."

Andrea Rosa: "Awesome job, scenario_t_c! You've earned your place in AoE history, and a very important place. "

Richard Ames: "Oh dear, I think they missed the whole point of this feature - templates are USELESS now."

LittleFreak: "This is truly awesome."

Dangrimm: How the heck did I miss this thread all that time?

============================================================

-How to Use This Utility (AoE)

1. Make a backup of C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires\data\empires.dat
2. Extract data\empires.dat within the zip file into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires\
3. Run Age of Empires
4. Go into the Scenario Editor
5. Click the Unit Tab, and select the player as GAIA
6. You will find that new units are avilable to GAIA player now!

Note: Some hidden units are available to normal players with Egyptian civilization instead of GAIA players.

-How to Use This Utility (RoR)

1. Make a backup of C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires\data2\empires.dat
2. Extract data2\empires.dat within the zip file into C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires\
3. Run Age of Empires: Rise of Rome
4. Go into the Scenario Editor
5. Click the Unit Tab, and select the player as GAIA
6. You will find that new units are avilable to GAIA player now!

Note: Some hidden units are available to normal players with Egyptian civilization instead of GAIA players.

Probably Yes. With this new stuff, I have a temptation to give a try on a "RPG like" cpn. Congrats to scenario_t_c. Keep up your good work!

Yes, but I Admit that a "User-Friendly Utility program" allowing to change the units attributes should be welcome to creating RPG with Level up. The caracters will gain more attack, HP, shield, or range each time you'll begin a new scn into the quest! Same for ennemies.

He, get work scenario_t_c.

Can you get the other angle of the fences actives (pretty please). Alsoyou missed out the tradeworks shop.

Also, I remember that there was also a goat or cow unit in aoe. The garphic is still there in the drs file. So hopeful it will still be code in the game. So see if you can find it.

One of the units that is very intresting is the Hero tratior_01.
When I playing with it it went to the other team when enough of there units came close to him.

With all the gaia now access able we can create new types of roads out of the old bricks.

Prophecy of the First King is an RPG game in AoE where you level up from level to level.

Quote:

How do you get those fences to stay put once you're in the scenario? The tradeworkshops are there.

I think the goat is just a graphic, all of the units have probably been unlocked now.

Yes, this unit is like an artifact so it will change from even one enemy unit. I had a play with it yesterday.

True, but those bricks still disappear when not in LOS, so they aren't ideal. If the designers creates the roads so they are always visible it would be a good effect.

I don't think that's possible. Following the same principle we could have Gaia heroes, which can't be done according to scenario_t_c. However let's wait for the wizard's answer...

Andrea was right. The game database doesn't hold data of wild animals for normal civilizations. Also, although GAIA has the data of Hero12 as well as other heros, they have been disabled, too, and therefore cannot be accessed.

You may use the alligator missile to do some decorations, maybe a house with alligator as a pet. No matter what, the original game just seems to not use it at all.

The space ship is very buggy and it can neither attack nor move smoothly. It would be hard for the player to control it, but not bad for an visual effect.

Gaia can actually own ruins - use Ctrl + A. I think they remain invisible until captured, which is a cool trick.

Edit: I've made a start on an article to cover all these units. I anticipate it will be an 'add-on' to my Special Units article, probably on a new page.

I've found an annoying bug related to Hero_Traitor_01. As said it can't be killed, since it always respawns with 1 HP left doing a small jump forward. The fact is, during this jump it seems to leave kind on an invisible unit behind him. As a result, your units can no longer walk where the Traitor had been "killed"! Kill the Traitor enough times with arrows and it will create an invisible wall, destroying your scenario playability.

"A Short History Of Lost Sumeria" has been updated since the 4th scenario featured the Traitor, now removed.

I'm working on the article, and I'm making a list as I go. A list would be helpful for me, but since I'm in the editor so much it isn't that hard to make one as I go, so if you want you can wait for me to do it.

I'll post a bit more about the article once I've made some more progress.

Edit: I'm listing units in separate categories, so this should make the list easier to use. I'll list RoR units together with AoE probably, and use a colour code. I've got all the AoE units thus far.

Here's the first section I've completed. Have a read through and see if there's anything more I can add, or any mistakes.

I swear I had a new Gaia house give me a 37 pop when I was first playing around with it, but I haven't been able to repeat this.

New Gaia Buildings

Gaia buildings belong to the Asian set (Choson, Yamato and Shang appearance), and have the Stone Age form. The new Gaia buildings are from the Bronze Age, with the exception of the house, which is from the Tool Age. The buildings have limited functionality though: They cannot train units (Barracks and Dock) or research technology (Barracks, Dock, Market, Storage Pit), nor can they be used as drop sites (Town Center, Dock and Storage Pit) or for tributes (Market), and the town center does not prevent you from building another if it is your only one.

However the buildings are not without some use. When you need to advance up an Age, they count as if they were the real building, and the same applies for researching new buildings. For example the beta barracks will let you build archery ranges and stables, as if you had built an actual barracks. The houses and town centers both add to your population cap like their normal counterparts.

These buildings should be used with care Ė they can be a little frustrating/confusing for the majority of players who donít know whatís going on here. It may be advisable to mention something in the instructions if the building is a major element in the scenario. When the building belongs to the CPU however, this is an ideal situation. The confusion is not an issue, and they can be placed without having to worry about the computer training units from them, or whatever else. You can give the CPU Town Centers and Markets without worrying about tributes and making villagers. The other trick is that you can change the player they belong to (by pressing the playerís number when in Units menu or using the move-and-place trick), and their appearance changes to match the playerís civilization (and remains Bronze). This may allow you to mix architectures and have two different types of the same building, without monotheism conversions. Note that the building will not change appearance as the owner makes Age advancements.

Dock
House
Market
Storage Pit
Town Center

Has anyone done this before in a Campaign?

The corpses will decay themselves, just as the normal ones you get when units die. You may only use them to create starting eye-candies that the player can see as soon as the game begins.

Anyway, the scene is cool.

Yes, I noticed that one in RoR. I think it is called 'Dead_Hunter' or something. It makes a slightly annoying crackling sound, but it seems like a good option for a fire, since it won't crash the game. A Gaia house fire is also a good option for a single fire.
