Trying to play RoR (with UPatch HD) over the internet with my brother. We had success playing on LAN and were hoping to replicate the experience at a distance.
I've forwarded ports 2300-2400 and 47624, TCP and UDP, to my local IP. I create a game and give my brother my public IP, but nothing comes up.
Is that all I need to do to play a game over public internet? I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work. I even spun up a little web server listening on the appropriate ports and he was able to see it from a web browser on his end, so the port forwarding is definitely not an issue. EMPIRESX.exe and dplaysvr.exe are both allowed through the firewall.
Just wondering whether anyone has gotten this to work before. I even started forwarding a whole bunch more ports but nothing worked.

A friend and I had AOE1 working over public internet before (2 years ago?), even without Upatch HD. I can't remember exactly how, but your definitely on the right course, IIRC.
