How time flies! Yesterday AoE Heaven turned 20. Happy birthday to the #1 Age of Empires/Rise of Rome fan site on the net! And a big thanks to all the fans still supporting and playing the game!

Oh my god! 20 years !! I first played aoe in 1999, it was aoe trial, i still remember playing the campaign, specially openning moves and battle of kadesh !!

Congratulations to Aoe Heaven as well, its amazing that the site is still running and bringing new stuff after all those years!

Hopefully one day microsoft will make an official aoe-ror remake!!!

Happy birthday AoE Heaven, let's see if we can last another 20 years

Lost Empires Mod
Maybe it's only a fool who'll perilously journey out to what might not be there. But if you want to solve problems, you don't just solve the ones that are there, you find more and make more and go after the impossible ones.
The neanderthals never ventured into the unknown and they went extinct, so who are the fools?

Congrats! AoEH is lucky to have such an awesome and dedicated staff team.

I am not optimistic about it being a huge success, but we are alive and it looks quite good in my opinion.

I'll spam this over and over again because i can't believe it

I'd talk about how disappointed some quite ungrateful comments make me feel ('I would have preferred if AoE II received this treatment instead...oh well' or 'This is not AoE IV but oh well [again]') And how some think a new game i the series will be a huge hit (people forgot how well Age of Empires III and online did. They didn't go bad, but definitively they are nowhere close to AoE II)

Now I think that although gameplay may be of certain influence for the popularity of AoE II over AoE, I have always felt that the period of time and the civilizations are the main reason why people like AoE II more. In the western world people feel more identified with the middle ages than with ancient times (except maybe in Italy and Greece) and that's shown over and over again in pop culture. Maybe it is because many of the European nation states were born in the middle ages, meanwhile ancient times feel too far removed.

Just some thoughts. I won't dwell in bad stuff, maybe is time to play videogames again.
