Tigris Valley

Campaign Walkthroughs

Tigris Valley

Why this is called a valley is beyond me, it’s a highly naval scenario. Start off building Scout Ships and chopping wood, you’ll soon be attacked from the sea and you need to rule the seas to win. Build a second Dock to the North as soon as you can, then build a Storage Pit next to the Stone you’ll see to the North as well. Use your Villagers to hunt the Gazelle in the North for food, the chop wood and mine Stone once the Gazelle are gone.
Keep building Scout Ships and build two Fishing Boats at your Northern Dock, then fish for as much food as you can. Use your fleet to protect the fishing grounds and build a second fleet of a half dozen ships to guard against the inevitable landing. Build a Barracks but don’t build any units at it, and when you have the food available, go to Tool Age, build a Granary (anywhere, there’s no Berry Bushes) and research Watch Towers. Build a Watch Tower next to each Dock to help protect it, plus one or two around your town to help with any landings that do get through.
Build an Archery Range and start upgrading as far as you can, and build a Market too. Research Woodworking at the Market, you’ll want the bonus, and upgrade your Archery Range unit defenses at the Storage Pit. Build a second Storage Pit around the forests to the South, next to the Stone, and assign Villagers to chop that wood and mine the Stone. Take two Villagers to the Southern Coast and build a third Dock, plus a Tower to guard it. Keep building Scout Ships and research War Galley, then build even more ships.
Be prepared for an onslaught from both the Yellow and the Brown units, and choose the one you want to eliminate. Usually the Brown are tougher, but a better choice since they have one of the Artifacts you need. You’ll find the Brown Dock to the Southwest, take it out and stand off shore, destroying it as they try to rebuild. It’s tough to stay out of range of the Towers, but you need to keep your fleet afloat.
Take a second fleet of maybe 6-8 ships South to the Yellow Dock, and just stand off shore sinking everything that’s built at it. Eventually the Yellow player will run out of wood and stop building ships, and then you want to produce a Trade Boat and start trading Food for Gold at the Dock. Use your fleet to patrol the coast and take out any Towers near the Dock, plus any military units. Watch for Catapults.
When you have the seas secured, build a Light Transport and load five Composite Bowmen on it. Deposit them on the North side of the Western island where the Red player is, and wander the island killing all the Clubmen until he’s defeated. Claim the Artifact there, load it in your Transport and send it home, then bring five Villagers back to the island, build a Storage Pit and mine the Gold there. Watch out for sneak landings by the Brown player and sink any Transports he sends your way. When you get enough Gold, go to Bronze and build a Siege Workshop, upgrading to Catapults as soon as you can.
Now, build a fleet of Transports, five should be plenty, and load three of them with Composite Bowmen, one with Villagers and one with Catapults. Use your fleet to clear a landing area of enemy units on the Brown Coast, usually the best area is the far South end, and land your Composite Bowmen. Eliminate anything moving and land your Villagers right behind them, put all five Villagers on building two Towers to hold the beach head, then land the Catapults.
Have the Catapults take out any buildings in reach, concentrating on Towers, and use your Composite Bowmen and naval units to keep them safe. As soon as there’s room, build an Archery Range with your Villagers and then a Siege Workshop, and start cranking on units to replace the losses you’re taking. Move out from here, and keep replenishing your units, and as you move up the map edge you’ll see the second Artifact. Use your Composite Bowmen to hold the enemy at bay, your Catapults to take on the Towers and the Villagers to build Towers to help defend the path home. When you get to the Artifact, run it to the coast and a waiting Transport, send it home and claim the win.
