Every page has now been updated with the new look! I also started adding a few new pages, which are the Feathers and Wings page to Town Centre, an old article written by Archangel, the founder of HeavenGames and the site you are currently visiting, AoEH. I thought it would be nice to have this up again – I’m planning to add more articles once featured on the old, old AoEH – stuff that should not be forgotten.

The other new article explains all the basic functions of the Scenario Editor, called “Using the Editor“, which is especially useful for those new to it and wanting to create their own custom works. You can find it in the Siege Workshop.

The right menu now features a small Multiplayer section with buttons linking to the most common clients used for online play. Not everyone knows about them or visits our forum, which is why I decided to put it up. This should make it easier for visitors to get to the online scene and play MP games.

Please welcome Dubstepfisk (formerly known as Fruktfisk) to the Age of Empires Heaven Staff! He’s been around for quite a few years, and will now be moderating our forums.

Be sure to congratulate him in this thread.

In other news, you probably have noticed the main menu on the left has had a bit of an overhaul. I’ve been updating it a lot the last couple of days, it now features new sections and links, more is on the way.

It’s been a few years since the Siege Workshop section had any updates. We now have 2 new articles in a whole new section, called Data & Graphics!

The first tutorial explains all the basics on using AoEd/RoRd by scenario_t_c. For those who are not familiar yet with this utility, it’s basically a modder’s dream come true. Everything in the data (.dat) files can be altered to create a whole new experience.

A prime example of this is the in-development Age of Italy Mod by Thompsoncs. His guide about editing graphic (.slp) files is the second new article featured in the Siege Workshop and explains step-by-step how to modify the Graphics.drs database.

I will be adding more articles soon, stay tuned

Age of Empires Heaven is proud to host our first ever Pretty Town Contest! In this contest, we want you to put your creativity to the test and create the most magnificent and beautiful looking town using the Scenario Editor.

With the amount of utilities available now (such as Zapdotep’s Composite Editor), I am sure there will be quite a few interesting towns being designed to look at their absolute best.

If you want to sign up, visit this thread and leave your reply. You can also sign up as judge. Being a judge myself, I am looking forward to the results. Make sure you read the requirements and rules carefully before entering.

The contest starts 1st of December 2011, final submit date (deadline) is 11:59pm EST, January 31, 2012, which gives you plenty of time to design something really nice. Good luck to everyone who enters!

Check out AoEO PvP!

It’s been a while since we’ve had a VIP posting here on Age of Empires Heaven. Microsoft Playbalance Lead MrMilo aka miloman has posted on our forums about the all-new Champion Mode of Age of Empires Online:

You might remember me from my days as a moderator for AoE3. Or perhaps, I played or talked to you on ESO on AoE3 or AoM or their expansions (I made this account on HeavenGames 10 years ago!). I love Age games, particularly PvP in Age games. I’m posting here because I know you guys and gals love Age games too.

If you left AoEO, or never picked it up, because there was a barrier to getting into the kind of PvP game you wanted to play, you should come back: the barrier is gone. We’ve just introduced a new way to PvP, Champion Mode, that puts all players on equal footing from the moment you make a civilization. There’s no need to get gear or level up in Champion Mode: all in-game techs in the tech tree are unlocked, and gear still makes your units look cool, but it doesn’t affect unit stats. Just hop on a Premium civilization and play, simple as that. For more details on Champion Mode, see here.

This game is fun. The pacing is fast-it feels more like AoC than AoM or AoE3-and there is a hard counter system that rewards good micro. Also, because we patch the game most months, balance changes will come more frequently than they did for AoE3.

If you don’t have the game already, check it out: ageofempiresonline.com. I hope to see you online for some PvP soon!

Be sure to visit the topic and feel free to discuss the new Champion Mode!

Hello everyone! I would like to bring you some updates regarding a few threads in our forum.

I have updated the Scenario Design Links & FAQ thread which now has all kinds of articles and tutorials not featured in the Siege Workshop yet. They are an interesting read and really helpful to both new and experienced designers, be sure to check them out! Also included are links to the most useful utilities to aid you and a FAQ in case you have questions.

In case you are interested in the history of AoEH, how it developed through the years and turned out the way it is now, be sure to visit this thread. For those who have been around for a long time, this will bring back a lot of nostalgia and memories!

Lastly, we are still looking for a moderator. If you would like to apply, leave your reply here.

News is back!

Hello everyone!

We are slowly getting AoEH running back to full speed. As part of this we now have the ability to post up news articles such as this. We will shortly have the Granary uploads section working too.

Thank you for your patience.

Now for an update on recent forum activity:

Thompsoncs has been making more progress with his Age of Italy mod. You can check out more details here.

Our Continuous Screenshot Competition currently has a Quebec theme. Make your entries here.

Fruktfisk has been working on a new campaign. Check out his progress here.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen.

As most of you know I am The Dark Archer and I have meant to have been running this site for the last year as the Seraph. However due to time constants and the earth shaking a bit I have been unable to fulfill my duties and as such with a certain sadness I have decided to resign. This is something that I have wanted to happen for a long time now as I realized that I didn’t have the time to dedicate to the site as it really deserved. Unfortunately that same lack of time meant I was unable to be around to actually organize a replacement. However it has now been discussed properly and the most active staff member in recent history Suppiluliuma will now be taking over as Seraph and I can think of no one better currently here. I wish him all the luck and know that he will do an awesome job.

Also as I leave I will also be taking Nacht Jaegar off of staff due to inactivity. He certainly has done a lot of work for Age of Empires Heaven and his work was certainly appreciated by myself as he help me a lot during my time as Seraph but as with myself inactivity leaves us with no real option but to remove him from staff. I certainly hope you will join me in thanking him for all his work and wishing him the best for his future endeavors.

So as a final note thank you all for helping make this site an awesome place to be and for giving me a great place to start my journey on the internet. I wish you all good luck in the future and think a quote from an unknown author is quite appropriate here.

Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I’ll miss you
Until we meet again!

Perhaps goodbye is not the best word to use here. In fact I think I rather like see you latter because without a doubt I will be back at some point in time.

Cheers,
Chris “The Dark Archer” Jensen
