Christmas Day
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it! I’m going out of town (finally!) for a few days so updates will be sporadic. I hope you all enjoy a peaceful Christmas and a great New Year celebration! Wish me safe roads as I’m going to be needing them!

Christmas Eve
And not a mouse is posting. Wait…, yes, there are people posting out there. Well, I guess that that is just to keep their minds off what CDs might be waiting in their Christmas stockings. 🙂 There might also be a holiday tournament being planned here. I wish all of you a most warm and fun Christmas. Remember especially those who for distance or other reasons cannot be with you on these days.

Time Zone Headaches
Centy and the Phillster are discussing how time zones can ruin a good tournament. Yep, that is a problem. Usually there is at least a 5 to 6 hours’ difference between many countries in Europe and the Eastern Seaboard. Even down here in Latin America time zones are weird. Take for example Chile: that long, thin sliver of a place does, of course, have only one time zone but it is two hours ahead of Colombia instead of the expected one hour like Venezuela and western Brazil. Strange huh? Anyway, maybe the Zone would consider having the tourney repeat itself at least twice, 6 hours and then 12 hours after the first hosting…I mean we wouldn’t want to forget our friends over in Asia, now would we? 🙂 That way, tourney addicts could do a 12 to 18 hrs. stretch too and meet some very interesting people from all over the world.

And a Merry Xmas to All!
One of our best-mannered forum posters, peter, has posted our first Christmas greetings and good cheer posts right here. I think we can do better than a single reply, right? 🙂 Don’t forget to get the latest updates on the ES search for more and better over at Age of Kings Heaven. More thickenings of plot than bread dough left to dry… .

Listen
As a close, personal friend of Angel Dutch Uncle Al, I suppose I could wax grotesque on do’s and don’ts in the forums. However, I know you guys and gals are sophisticated enough to have a warning from our head tech dude and, I might add, averter of all evil, Angel Zen, refresh any memories that may need refreshing:
Just a kind reminder that software cracks, warez, or anything of an illegal nature are not allowed on these forums.

Just say no, ok?

Saving Games
Today sjf is wondering whether multi-player games can be saved. We know they can in AOK, but there seem to be some problems in AOE. See if you can set the discussionstraight. Dash over to Age of Kings Heaven to read all about the AOE event that is going to start in about 4 hours!

Sunday’s slow?
Rush here as quickly as you can today because someone is saying that Sundays are no-go days. There’s plenty of activity in all the heavens and AOE Heaven is no exception. Say your piece here. Also, the forum party over at Age of Kings Heaven has ended. Read and see all about it!

New
There is tournament info at Age of Kings Heaven and it has nothing to do with Age of Kings! Find out how close it is to Age of Empires players now. In the forums someone whose name I misspelled (happens to me all the time too, sorry) is lamenting how your level of play in Age can affect your attitude towards people.

Newsflash!
Don’t forget that the Scenario Design Contest Through the Eyes of the Pharaohs is closing today. You can still get your entry in now if you act fast!

Tiny packages usually the most interesting…
Trying tiny yet? Well, one Dude is and he has some good reasons for trying out the mini-map mode. After all: tiny is beautiful Dudes. You do also know about the tournament over at our big sis site right? It’s already hot and Dark Angel tells me (yep, it actually talks to me now) that it’s going to get even hotter in a possibly unimagined way. Darky will, as always, keep you posted in its very own unique and oblique way.

The more ancient the better…
One of our forum posters has decided that he likes the older ages rather than the newer ones. I must say that the older ages are more mysterious as less is known about them and I do feel that there was maybe more magic and awe. Having said that, I wouldn’t want to miss all the technological advances that occurred in the more recent ages since, after all, they did lead up to the Computer Age. 🙂 Make up your mind and present your opinions on the matter right here.

Converting the converted.
In our Age III features discussion Centurion 2_1 makes a very good point: each civ should have its own (national) religion so that, for example, Catholics of one civ cannot convert Catholics of another civ. I’ll be honest here, I’ve never liked the conversion aspect of any of the games for gameplay and reality reasons (especially in Age I where buildings could be converted (come on)! Now although this proposal would help me out on both accounts, I wonder what the consequences of implementation would be. I would rather love to have conversion revert to the Civilization days: gradual upon achieving a much higher level of development and a surprise to both sides. Course, that may just bring along a lot of other problems… .

Living in a yellow heaven, yellow…
Beatles revival by 13 year-olds in our very own forums! The Queen scared me there for a minute when she used the topic: Imagine there’s no heaven! Don’t do that okay, we are really sensitive. 🙂 Hop over to Age of Kings Heaven today too to see how perceptive Angel Thunder has become in the short time he has been with the Heaven gang.

Longbowmen
At HeavenGames main there is a little confirmation story on how Longbowmen were actually used during WWII. Phill points out that it was in the Home Guard only but still, they were used. He is also discussing scenarios and hints in the forums. Quite an active fellow.

Longevity of Longbowmen
In one of our forum discussions about the features and focus of Age III some interesting facts are being revealed. Did you know that longbowmen were still used by the British during W.W.II? Now, I know that some strange tactics can be deployed during war but I would like some independent confirmation of that one. Love to know what source was used to dig up that gem.

Toons of another type
At our sister site there are some great sketches of some of our finest Angels. I wonder if Angel Dutch Uncle Al is among them? Are you sure you are in on at least one or two contests dealing with the Age series? You do know that we are running several of them, right?

Age III Concepts
Today there is a discussion about the possible/desired features of Age III. I was just wondering, isn’t having a Piracy Age and Colonization Age kind of repetitive? 🙂 Oh, ES does indeed not drop in on forum discussions but after 3 years of having done so, who can blame them, right?

The Games People Play
So, what else besides AoE and RoR tickles you fancy? Share you answer with others right here. Find out what the loony tunes over at HeavenGames main was up to a few days ago and shed a tear of laughter with him. Heaven knows he seems to need it. 🙂 Tired of that? Ok, how about we just rejoice in the advent of the Christmas season!
