Playability: 3.5
Perhaps not quite the most exillerating scenairo you'll play here in the granary, this still has some worthwhile playing. Driven by a well written story and some good tricks, this is quite decent.
Generally speaking, you're told to climb a mountain to save your buddy who's looking to worship in some sort of shrine. Unfortunately, he steps in a rather nasty pile of nasty stuff and you, his faithful servant, must get him out. So doing so you have to find a path up the mountain before the gods build a wonder. If there is any crack in the road here, its the sheer tediousness. I'd highly advise finding something else to do while playing this scenairo (play guitar is what i did) because otherwise you'll get bored fast. I found it irritating having to aqquire resources via just your villager and build buildings. Things eventually speed up a bit towards the end (you'll also need to save alot) but in the end its nothing too fantastic. It features some old tricks (for you to find) and a few twists in gameplay to make ends meet and keep it interesting. All in all, this was a pinch above average.
Balance: 3
The sheer tediousness of the scenairo can really bring down the replayability... And if you want to win this scenairo, you'll have to start over a couple of times. Even saving isnt going to solve everything, as the enemy is building a wonder and there's no way you can stop them. To counter the wonder, but difficulty on easiest as enemy AI really isn't the main part of this scenairo. While this does feature a few small brain tinglers and some goofs, in the end its a matter of speed. And considering alot of the nasty obstructions in your way, thats not easy to do. Frankly, I was defeating a number of times and had to start over 3 times. It's challenging, but in this case it isn't all that of a good thing. Either way, I thought it was ok.
Creativity: 3.6
Lots of creativity in the storyline, and not to mention the gameplay had some goofy little dings. The map isn't all too bad either and quite accurately depicts a mountain. So overall it was a good notch above average, the author put lots of work into this.
Map Design: 4
Back in '98 they didn't have the designing tools that we have cuurently, so you'd really have to give this guy props for this scenairo. The map really said, isnt an eyesore. It's mostly cliffs yes, but with the application of waterfalls and little dirt paths, shallows, fishes, elevation, and a goofy town, this has everything that we haven't gotten recently. IT really isn't superb, its just so decent that it deserves this score.
Story/Instructions: 4.4
Excellent. You can read it yourself. Good original stuff. Also includes a full walkthrough and an excellent bitmap. Not to mention a silly Cobain reference in the history section.
Additional Comments:Your looking into a piece of original work here... I'd say go for it. It's not exactly stimulating, so check this out when your tired as hell or something :-P.
