Playability: 3
This is an interesting map, designed with 6-players in mind (2 teams, 3 teams or even FFA). I wouldn't say that this map is not fun, but actually the challenges you face can make it quite tedious. The large number of animals near resources make this a challenge, as well as navigating around the bottlenecks and shallows. The map initially looks like something that would favour a defensive player, but the openess of the sea actually changes this completely.
Balance: 5
Very challenging. In 2v2v2 you have teams being attacked on all sides, from different teams (it is the nature of the match), and 3v3 allows for the middle player to boom as long as the wide players can remain aggressive. In a free for all you are pretty much attacked on all sides, as with all players. This is on top of the large number of lions, aligators, elephants and several king animals! Several resources (berry and gold in particular) are surrounded by such animals.
Creativity: 4
There are a number of creative ideas; 6 pieces of land stretching to the middle of the map, where each has access to 2 other pieces of land via shallows; a central pool of water, which contains a "watermark"; and each island having abundant resources very hard to get to (both via animals and other resources being in the way).
Map Design: 3
Naturally the overall shape of the map is good, but what is lacking is how each piece of land is slightly different, meaning some players will be at a disadvantage. In multiplayer terms, it is more preferable that each player can achieve the same start. Also, the general placement of resources makes it quite difficult. A little more effort is required.
Story/Instructions: 3
No story, and none required. However, the instructions good detail on how to play (teams etc). I would have liked to see a bit more detail, such as some detail on recommended civs, teams etc.
Additional Comments:
Looks very challenging. Suitable for various forms of 6 player games. |

Style: Build and Destroy
Players: 2-6
Map: 6 peninsulas placed around the edges of the map, each one joined to 2 others via shallows, middle region only water!
Playability: 3
I am marking this down to 3 simply because it makes a long game (which will affect replay value). However, there are other elements which make this a good map such as the placement of islands and your restrictions of getting from your land to any enemy!
Balance: 5
Very challenging, and even more so for team games. There are multiple ways to attack and multiple ways you need to defend, so getting the balance (whether team games or not) is essential to winning.
Creativity: 4
Initials can be found in the middle and the way that each "island" meets another are very good ideas.
Map Design: 4
A lot of effort went into this but a few small issues exist around consistency in quality and balance of each island head (some islands are shaped slightly different!).
Story/Instructions: 4
Very good instructions on setting up team games - although this could be clearer.
Additional Comments:
Well worth a download - this caters for team and free for all games! Very challenging! |
