You are standing where a great city used to be.The last of your army is attacking now, if they fail its up to you, the war has began!!! You are all that remain of the once powerful country, the Carters. After defeating you in battle, the Cansons Have stolen your prised war chest. Your allys are strong, you must seek refuge with them, untill you are again a Mighty force. Once you are strong you must regain your honor by taking back you war chest. Multiplayer also : No
This is almost like the scenarios I used to create for my own enjoyment with the Editor. You have a safe place to build up, a brief navy war, a long shore bombardment to silence enemy artillery, a beach head landing, a lure and snipe kill zone, a cavalry sweep, and a final artillery sweep to finish off the opponent.
The opponent is surrounded by water and has no docks. I am free to build up until I feel like I'm ready to take the offensive. I have almost unlimited forests to create unlimited Triremes at the reduced price of 94 gold (instead of 135 gold) because I am Minoan. With Triremes I can take out towers (if I choose not to build Juggernaughts for 52 gold) and I can set up a kill zone on the enemy shore which will annihilate any wave of troops he cares to send against my beach head foothold.
This is a fairly standard scenario but the designer has set up a nice arena for the plot to develop.
Map Design: 3.5
The map is hand made, the main continent has a really nice city entrance and walls. The enemy city has nicely built walls and towers. The islands are separated by more than one jugshot range so they can't shell each other across the water. There is an outcropping on the enemy homeland outside of his walls where I beached my triremes and mustered my forces for the siege. It reminded me exactly of the beached Achaean ships on the shore besieging Ilium (Troy). You can open a breach in his walls and let him funnel his troops in single file through the kill zone. It's sad to watch but that's war.
Story and instructions etc. are here, even a bit map.
One of the hints is that gold is scarce and you should use it sparingly. I only used gold for upgrades to my troops' armor and missile range, and very little gold to build jugs, composite bowmen (my Minoan strong point) and a few cavalry and catapults in the very end stages of the game. If I have unlimited wood to build unlimited triremes I can wipe out anything onshore and set up a kill zone that will wipe out anything I can bait into range onshore.
