This is the famous 10 year siege of Troy in Homer's "Iliad and the Odyssey." The city of Troy is surrounded on all sides. ; Get your people on the city and fight for all your worth. this scenario is fun to play on both sides. If you have a really fast network try a multiplayer game. It's really fun. Multiplayer also : no
Playability: 4
This was a real rush at the start. Crank the woofers up to 11 and annoy your wife, mother, or even the neighbors. The mini screen looked just like my alert monitor when I was working the night shift during the San Francisco quake, red alerts all over the map. After the initial few rushes, if the enemy fails to breach your walls, it settles down to an actual siege. Which means they sit there. But this opens many possibilities for whatever style you prefer, to sally forth and lure them in to your massed towers or hunt them down at extreme range.
Balance: 3
The intro says you are outnumbered 10 to 1. OK, but you have walls and towers. They don't count as troops but they function even better.
Creativity: 3.5
A Random Map with an overworked theme, and yet the city design was quite creative.
Map Design: 4
As mentioned, a Random Map but severely reworked into a beautiful, logically designed, and perfectly functioning city. Obviously play tested by the designer to ensure access from all buildings to the main arteries.
Story/Instructions: 1
Instructions. You're outnumbered but your city is heavily fortified. OK
Additional Comments:
Use your villies as Combat Engineers here. Nobody knows about Combat Engineers, they are actually the first troops to cross the line, they go in to breach enemy wires, walls, and mine fields, and they take heavy casualties clearing a path for the conventional troops. Here Villies can build towers in a fraction of a minute. The opponent will attack the towers while the Villies scamper off giggling insanely to build another tower.
You need to be able to sally forth. The enemy has artillery which outranges your towers. First build a kill zone of towers along your entrance and then breach your own walls to send forth cavalry to take out the enemy artillery. Personally I did not see any of my favorite unit, Cav Arch, and couldn't build any because I was over Pop Cap, so I took all my centurions and sent them on a massed suicide mission, which wiped out most of the enemy, while taking enough casualties to allow me to start building Cav Arch to scour the map for the mop up. Your favorite tactic may differ but this scen allows for many tactics, making it very versatile.
Definitely recommended for a download, even if just for the opening rush.
