Difficulty: Moderate
Recreation of the first major battle of Braveheart. Numerically superior Scottish rebels Engage the Northern English army which has far superior weaponry. The Scottish army is quite large, do not bother if you have less than a 200 MMX processor. I suggest that you be Scottish first. It's more fun. Multiplayer also : no

Playability: 3.5
While not as panicky and nutty as Quentin fantastic "Thermopylae", this one is equally difficult. "Stirling" is completely different... While it's pure battle, this one has two differences---no archers for you and you've got a wide open space. You've got more soldiers, but they're far weaker than the Eng's. The elevation is at one direct point in front of you sloping 3/2. The englishmen have far better troops in less quanity, including those dreaded compies. From here, it's pure chaos. You've got to constantly keep pressure with all your units WHILE maintaining a special formation which I will go into detail about in the balance part of the review. You also have to find a way to get rid of the archers with a quick fix. This one will REALLY tire your fingers, but in a delightful sense. There's so much to think about in such a little time... One of the better battle scenarios in the granary---that's for certain. I found this one to be a delightful go.

Balance: 4.5
This was simply amazingly difficult. It seemed no matter what I did my first 5/6 tries, I simply could not win... I was about to give up until I figured out how to take advantage of the terrain and manipulate my enemy into letting me surround it. If you just sit back or throw random clumps of troops at the english, you're dead for sure. Simply holding a straight line won't work either. To win this one---*spoiler* You've got to bait them into going at you in a thin line with calvary, where upon you box them in on 3 sides. Getting on the slope of the elevation comes in handy too... Really turns the tide of the battle. Taking any extra units I hit them in the back, knocking out some compies and diverting the attention of the reds. And all the way from there, I micro'ed my priests and cavs to victory, winning with about 20-30 some troops on my best go. The tactics needed to beat this one are on par with Thermopylae... Amazing stuff, yet so shallow.

Creativity: 2.5
A medieval battle in a B.C. game is always an interesting setting. Unit choice for gameplay was also pretty good and interesting, and the balance works out perfectly---although the VC's are just sort of rubbish. The map is an RM which is the pits of creativity. The story is sub-par and does need some work... This is fairly uncreative run-of-the-mill stuff, other than the way the game plays out itself.

Map Design: 2.5
It's a typical RM and nothing more. This gets props for being old, and so easily said it's a 2.5, no real explanation needed.

Story/Instructions: 2.5
Just barely enough and just a little bit more. Everything is said perfectly clearly and everything is given. This gets a bit of a tilt just for the save of the overall score, but keep in mind that its nothing special. A paragraph for story/instructions, a helpful hint, short history, and a quick aftermath. Frankly not enough.

Additional Comments:If you're a big fan of just flat-out pure battles, be sure to download. This is some great stuff, to be sure.
