Victory Condition: Conquest Description: Command and Conquer is the idea of this scenario. This two-player scenario starts out with each person on their own island. There are a few other islands that you will need to explore both filled with a lot of bio-diversity and other things(hence, the island surprise). It's super fun to play multi-player against two people or vs. the computer. |

This is good for those fairly new to multiplayer. I enjoyed it when I played it in 1997, and it created an enthusiastic stir when completed. The map is relatively simple with a couple of little surprises. There's also a little twist incorperated that, depending on how its played, could add considerably to the fun. It was this twist that that caused the fervor. |

Playability: 4
Has great potential for a fun multiplayer game. You basically have 2 main islands, and access to the other island is either via a short naval journey or a long hike via shallows (plenty of aligators), to a small island (plenty of elephant kings), more shallows (and more aligators) and finally the enemy island. But a couple of added twists; both players start with a villager on the enemy island, and a tower and short swordsman on their own island (making it a cat and mouse chase during the opening stages to avoid a tool rush!); secondly a small island exists almost directly between you and the enemy with a couple of ballista towers (first one to the island gets a good naval foothold!).
Balance: 4
A good challenge, as it firstly involves a cat and mouse chase to remove the enemy villager, secondly a race to the middle island (for the mighty ballista towers) and thirdly a constant navy war and coastal attack (dropping off troops being the key objective).
Creativity: 3
The use of gaia towers and an almost impossible route overland (via huge amounts of aligators and elephant kings) are good decent tricks.
Map Design: 3
The shape of the map naturally makes a good game, although I would have like to see more natural defenses (to allow defenders being pushed back across their island to wall and build a counter). The overall rendering of terrain is quite basic, nothing special (but then again, it is only a multiplayer map). Their are a number of artifacts found on the two smaller islands, but possessing all does nothing (ie this is a conquest only game). No real problems, other than being initially housed!
Story/Instructions: 3
No story here, other than some references to the game features. It is a multiplayer 1v1 game, therefore you basically know what to do!
Additional Comments:
Would recommend for a 1v1 game. This would be quite a challenge as it will test your multitasking skills from the start. Has the potential to be the type of game which drags beyond the Bronze Age.

Style: Build and Destroy
Players: 2
Map: 2 main islands attached by shallows and small island; middle island with gaia ballista towers; each player starts on 1 island, but has 1 villager on enemy island
Playability: 4
This map is actually fun to play. It is a 1v1 with a couple of features to keep you on your toes. Both players start on their own island, and travel to the other island can be done via shallows if you want to encounter aligators and elephant kings. There is a middle island with 2 gaia ballista towers which kind of makes you want to get a dock up early! Also, each player starts with a villager on the opposite player's island, and each player starts with 3 villagers, town center and a short swordsman on their own island. The early stages are mostly about finding the enemy villager, building up and possibly attempting to get a fishing boat to the middle island. There is replay value due to the different advantages to be gained, as well as the possibility to play on standard settings (the ballista island contains artifacts, and the final artifact can be found amongst the elephant kings).
Balance: 4
The multiple features make this a very challenging map. There are a number of small advantages to be gained, and make for an interesting game. However, one island has far more food than the other (offering both natural defenses and wood!).
Creativity: 4
The general idea is very good, and you are required to beat the other player in different ways (speed, scouting etc) in order to set yourself up for a win.
Map Design: 3
The layout is good but a couple of design choices need looking at. Firstly, the amount of sea to the northeast could be better (maybe more fish of making islands bigger). Secondly, player 2 starts on an island with more wood. The layout of the forest offers strategic advantages, so it would be good to see this on the other island too. Thirdly, the ballista island contains a number of artifacts - although the map is played with conquest settings. It may be better to make the default victory conditions set to standard (or to remove the artifacts).
Story/Instructions: 3
Spelling mistakes but generally the text is sufficient.
Additional Comments:
If you play a lot of 1v1 this is worth downloading. A few small changes would make this an excellent map.[Edited on 11/12/09 @ 07:14 PM]
