I didn't finish this either, not because it lagged on my modern PC, but because I didn't like the perfectly square city with perfectly square resources exactly inside city limits in unlimited quantities. The map took a lot of work to set up but it came out too much like a blueprint or a diagram, it doesn't feel organic. The diplomatic settings make it slightly more interesting. It would be a long massive defend fortified city and then wipe out stragglers scenario.

Here we have another one of those annoying scens which the designer has presented to us without even playing it himself. In the computer biz we call this "Testing? We don't need no steenking Testing! We'll test it in production! Let the users find all the bugs."
So let's see why this scen never got a review or a comment. Here's our first clue:
Played two minutes. Age of Empires has stopped working.
Tried again, played two minutes. Age of Empires has stopped working.
Third try, played 4 minutes. Age of Empires has stopped working.
Scenario Editor, test mode, played a couple minutes. Age of Empires has stopped working.
OK, it takes a pretty bad bug to crash a Microsoft game running on a Microsoft computer, and none of the other hundred scens I've played off the same CD on the same PC have ever crashed like this.
Here's a message from the player: The player has stopped working on this scen. Returned to manufacturer for defects. Please fix it and bring it back when you can play it yourself. Thanks.
