The Mesopotamian Campaign of Abgar V of Edessa

Author File Description
File Details
Difficulty: Easy-Mod
Version: Rise of Rome
Mission Name: The Mesopotamian Campaign of Abgar V of Edessa
Mission Designer: Rakovsky
Scenario Version: 1.0
Date: 9/12/19
Rise of Rome or AOE: Rise Of Rome.
Single Player or Multiplayer: Single Player

Acknowledgements: I used the Rise of Rome Official Expansion III scenario “Ctesiphon”, particularly its Ctesiphon city layout, to help make my map for Abgar’s scenario.

Design & Playtesting Notes: I was able to beat the Scenario fairly Easily, because it was not too hard to capture Nineveh and Gaugamela, although I did build a Siege Workshop and make catapults. After capturing those places, I built up forces and attacked Gonzartes' cavalry army in waves.

A small drawback is that I turned on the "Full Tech Tree" because Palmyra does not have Monotheism, which is needed to meet the objective of capturing Nineveh's buildings. I could have switched the Human Player's Civilization to Rome, but you are playing as Edessa, which is much closer to Palmyra. Plus, even though switching to Rome would give you Monotheism, advanced cavalry are locked for Rome, and it would be hard to fight the horse archers by using Roman infantry.

I was able to beat it, but let me know if you can't, or if the small map drawing doesn't show up in the Story Instruction screen.

The mission name in the message above is wrong. It says: "Mission Name: COnversions and Catacombs of Rome".
It should say "The Mesopotamian Campaign of Abgar V of Edessa"
You know you can edit that right?

Thanks! I was afraid to press the Update button because I thought I would need to submit the file all over again.
