Yes there is a bug on "random" civ option in game settings, it will be fixed shortly.
@AugustoSapienti : UPatch is a black box and I don't know how it works, compatibility is not guaranteed.
You can install RockNRor on a clean ROR install.
Tip : you can copy-paste your "Age of empires" installation folder and install RockNRor on the copy. Then you may install UPatch on the "original" folder and use RockNRor on the other one.
RockNRor has no requirement on AOE/ROR install folder location. |

Hi, is it possible to play AOE with your program only with higher resolution without any further changes? Or just increase the resolution and improve the AI intelligence? And does it support 1366x768 resolution? Thank you so much for your answers. If not, would someone please create a patch or mod that would only allow you to play in higher resolution? Maybe it wouldn't be much work. Thank you. |

Yes it is possible to set any custom screen resolution, you don't need to install the RockNRor mod if you don't want to.
Just use the RockNRorAdmin tool / File / Change game resolution.
However, don't forget that for a good game experience you better use DRS files (=graphics file) that correspond to your screen resolution.
Otherwise, the may be playable but with graphical issues.

So, for 1920x1080 resolution, the "DRS (graphics) resources" works fine or must i do something special? Thanks.
This mod is vanilla? (only fixes, not new civ, techs, etc?) |

If you want to use 1920*1080 screen resolution, you need to download the DRS files from http://aoe.heavengames.com/dl-php/showfile.php?fileid=2481
This mod has a utility program RockNRorAdmin that will allow you to update ROR so it runs in 1920*1080.
In the menu : File/change game resolution. It will ask you for the 2 DRS files (cf the download link above)
Yes you're right, this mod does not include new civs/etc, it only contains fixes and new features, but you can still use the standard "empires.dat" file or a custom one.

Hi, chab! I have great respect for you.
I'm all at sea with a problem:
In the original AOE or ROR, the game will pause for 1-2 seconds when the MIDI is switched, this affects the game experience to some extent.
Is there any way to replace MIDI with MP3?
Please forgive my bad English. Once again, I pay tribute to you. |

In addition, I have two new ideas.
1.Can the maximum formation size of 24 be changed? (It's 36 in DE)
2.Can these units use shortcut keys by ctrl+XX: storage Pit, granary, market and government center.

Hello Chab,
Curious about AI files in RockNRor. A while ago you posted in this thread
https://aoe.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/aoecgi/display.cgi?action=ct&f=4,6484,200,all&st=recent
Does RockNRor have the ability to load multiple strategies in a single ai using the method above? Kind of like a load if command. This would allow different strategies to be used per situation. Say if the map was water vs land based. |

Hello, you are really a great person, I like your software very much, but both in Vietnam and China use the 1.0B version, it would be great if the 1.0B version also has a 1.0C version, maybe You don't have time, can you tell me how to implement it? Can you tell me the principle? Thank you very much.

Hi guys,
I can't find how to make the game full screen(not window). I don't like the small scale of objects, I like when the units are large. I want to play in a resolution of 1024x768, so that the picture is expanded to full screen.
The only way to beat the lags is to play without music.
I renamed my first music files (~MUSIC1.MID & ~xmusic1.mid), for both games (AOE & ROR). Now in the new game, after the end of the music from the menu, the music will no longer play. Until I finish the current game, but there will be no lags. The choice is yours.
sorry for my english[Edited on 09/13/22 @ 12:29 AM]
