Ugahond Trial Version
Designed by Timothy McKenzie 2009
This 'expansion' is simply a remake of the original playtest version which if you have
downloaded then get rid of it. After listening to gamers advice I have made many
modifications to every level. Improving gameplay, story, objectives, and map design. So if you played the original then you will be delighted to find that this final version has
improved very much the excisting campaign. Simply copy the .cpx file into your data2 file
and play away. Also included again is the pics used in the bitmaps. I am going to get
round to improving the bit maps but I am having a lot of difficulties with my game at
the moment. Level 3, 'survival of the fittest' has seen the most changes but its victory
conditions are (inexpicably) a little faulty. If something seems wrong then type in
"home run" which will take you to the next level. I apologise for this inconvienence.
Okay, I'm finally getting around to reviewing this, you'd better appreciate it. ;) I don't have time to go into a lot of detail, but I'll still try to give a good review.
A definate improvement here, better victory conditions add more interest, and a somewhat faster-paced design bump up the score even more.
The added predators in the first two levels add slightly more challenge, and the later levels are trickier than the first two. The added VC's make it harder to pull off with your limited resources.
First and foremost, the map design stands out as the most creative thing about this campaign, I can never wait to see the next trick or eye-candy that might pop up. This whole work so far is very innovative and I'm sure that the full campaign will be very original.
Map Design: 4.6
As stated above, the tricks are excellent and the design ideas are creative, but the normal terrain is just a little dull in spots. I'm not really complaining, I'm just finding just about the only thing I can think of that could use improvement. Also, certain areas of the map seem to be missing something, I'm not sure what, while other parts of the map feel very natural and well made.
Once again, I must confess that the story is too long for me, but it is well written, and there is definately a lot of effort that went into it. The spellchecking and fixed grammar also make it easier to read and is a big improvement. As has been stated by others, using more line breaks to divide the paragraphs would make it easier to read.
This is only a demo of the full campaign, so I can't say that this is a great campaign that should be downloaded, but I can say that you should be on the edge of your seat waiting for the full version. I really can't wait to see all of the new tricks unveiled, and if you can't wait either, then it means you've already played this and know what I'm talking about. ;)
