"Fahim Rafiq stared at the smoldering ashes his town was reduced to. Everything was gone, absoutely everything. A few bodies were strewn about, lying mangled in grotesque positions in the dust. Fahim took in his first scene of total destruction with wide eyes. His bags of jewels and gold, which he had before been clutching with a miserly greed, dropped from his hands and slumped, lifeless, on the ground. They could not comfort him now. Fahim was suddenly snapped out of his trance by the sound of sobbing.
Fahim ran over the sandy dune to find his friend Zayn sobbing over the body of his wife. Fahim bent to comfort him, but suddenly realized that he had not found his wife yet. With a yelp, he ran around the pillaged village, searching for his beloved wife. Fahim noticed many faces he recognized, but he passed them as if they were manikins. Fahim checked every body, but his wife was not among the casualties! A thought struck him, and he ran to a path leading away from his village. However, his progress was impeded when he ran headlong into a short stranger, knocking him headfirst."
Fahim is back, and this time... It's personal. Help him and his merchant friends travel to the ancient land of the Kush, find mercenaries, and oust the Byzantine menace.
Note: Please play Man of the East Part 1 before this, or you won't know what's going on.

Any criticism is accepted! Tell me if you think it is too easy or hard, as I may update in the future.
Thanks to Tailspray for playtesting!
NOTE: If you downloaded before August 21, please redownload due to more bugs I found in the non-updated version. Otherwise, the scenario will be flawed. |

I've been very busy lately and haven't really been able to review lately.
After playing the first part of the scenario, I'd have to say that I'm not impressed. I like your use of converting units to gain other civ's attributes, but an overload of waiting and baiting, along with constant healing, has never really worked in any scenario I've played.
Try and find a way to balance out the fights between units, so you won't have to use blind lame priests.
A mobile priest might be a good idea---although you might want to change the enemy civ to Macedon.
Remember, try to make the player use his brain, not waste his time.[Edited on 08/26/08 @ 10:27 PM]

I was aiming to make the player use his head and attack strategically, but I didn't want it to become too boring. I personally think it came out how I wanted it to play, so I'm not going to rework it. However, I'll keep your comments in mind when I make Part III and my other scenarios.
I would appreciate a review when you have enough time, though.
Also, the 2nd part of the scenario is slightly different. Hopefully you'll enjoy that part more. ;)[Edited on 08/27/08 @ 05:05 PM]

I don't really think it's that seriously flawed, it's just that alot of the battles can be won by wait-and-bait, and if you ever get injured, you can just run back to the priest... It gets very tedious after a while. Maybe the player doesn't have to do this, but there's always that obligation.
Maybe a mobile priest would at least get rid of the annoyance of constantly running back to the priest, but then you can just convert all the enemy units...
I guess it's not too bad as it is, I was just disapointed and was hoping for a more exciting start. |

Sorry, but a mobile priest would allow you to discover certain things.
Also, when it comes to wait-n-bait, I wanted you to use certain tactics to defeat stronger enemies (ex. lure horsemen away from archer, kill archer first, then gang up on horsemen).
Also, there are various priests, and each is meant to heal you after extreme fights where almost all your units die.[Edited on 08/27/08 @ 10:09 PM]

I'm currently about 1/3 through this. This can be played different ways, like most scens. I enjoyed trying different configurations of troops to take down the centurions and other troops. I didn't do a lot of lure and snipe, sometimes I was able to stand ground one unit at the priest, and lure a centurion into attacking him, while the priest was healing him, and then ambush him with my other two units. Other times I would use a wounded troop like a bird playing broken wing, while the centy was chasing him my other troops would finish him off. Another time I got two archers to shoot at one troop between them while my other two troops snuck up and whacked em from behind. I had fun setting these up. If Nezon or Dean doesn't get here first I could put a review here. |

Dean and Nezon have been absent for long, so I'd appreciate a review if you want to give one. |
