LIONS OF KHAROUN

Jason pulled back the flap, and exited from his humble tent. Gathering up his walking cane and tattered priest's rags, he prepared himself for the task that lay ahead. The spirals of black smoke rising from the not distant temples served as a stark reminder of the price of failure.

For Jason, despite his current appearance, is not a visiting priest. He has been ordered by his excellency King Darius himself to retrieve the book of the Prophet from Kharoun's library. Jason smiles grimly, he relishes a challenge, but this task will not be simple. His men have been left at the border, lest they arouse suspicion. His sword likewise. He approaches the walled city state of Kharoun with caution, unarmed and defenceless. If only he could find himself an ally, his work might be made a little easier...

This is my first, and quite possibly last, AoE scenario. So forgive me the faults you may encounter. Due to my extreme lack of skill, this scenario is for the most part a puzzle. But that is not to say there won't be deaths and peril. I hope you enjoy this little offering, all comments and reviews will be warmly appreciated.

RCM7525 Wow. This looks really good. Haven't had time to review it yet, too busy working on my own. City looks really good. And I like that trick of packing up your tent(If you download the pebble32 unicode editor you can change the name from trade workshop to tent). I look forward to reviewing it when I have the time.

Thanks for your comment. I don't know how this measures up to the average, so I look forward to seeing your review sometime.
matty12345 leaving us for AoE, are you? :p

I might have to reinstall AoE to check this out.

Pretty much.

Well no, this was just an experiment. But I do recommend you reinstall AoE, quite apart from my effort there's some great and creative stuff here.
Jimmy2 This looks good. I really like the city! I'll play this and review it eventually.

Thanks, and by the way, I looked at Man of the East and it looks very interesting. I hope to see more by you.
Jimmy2 I was going to review this sooner, but my computer's saved games won't load anymore, so all my progress is lost. I'll see if I can play it without saving.

You will enjoy playing this scenario, but there are two problems that brought this score down a little. You cannot save your progress because of the missles that have been placed, so if you stuff up you have to start from the start. The other problem is (this occured to me many times) that I randomly lose. I don't know what that's all about, perhaps I did something I wasn't supposed to...

Balance: 4.5
The balance was great. The thing that makes it hard is the little puzzles you must overcome to move on. However, knowing how to complete each puzzle made the scenario much easier.

Creativity: 5
This is where the scenario really stood out. I can't recall many scenarios or campaigns that were made like this. The objectives were interesting and kept you into it.

Map Design: 5
This is another part where it excelled. The map is beautiful. Every part you explore gives you a true, natural feeling. It truely is a good job and would have taken a long time.

Story/Instructions: 4.8
The story was rather long, but it was good. The only setback was that, since I kept randomly lossing, I couldn't find the reason why. Other than that, it was top-notch

Additional Comments:
This is a awesome scenario. I highly recommend you download it. Even if you win you'll still want to play it over and over.

Thanks very much for your review, and of course, the score! I am glad you enjoyed it.

Those issues you mention have really perplexed me, as I haven't encountered either. Still, I will look into them.

NB. If you have the latest multiplayer patch, this scenario may crash when you try to reload saved games. If you don't want to have to play through in one go, you will need to remove this patch.

It was hard at times, and I was often stuck, but if you work at it you can tough it out. Very fun.

Balance: 4.5
I was frustrated sometimes, and I died often, but still it was well balanced.

Creativity: 4.6
The campaign was cery creative, good story and good integration of the story into the gameplay.

Map Design: 5
WOrk of art. Everywhere you look there is something to see.

Story/Instructions: 4.7
Great story, not too long, not too short, and it got the point across well.
