Ultima_Shadow_K9 Presents:
Firlon
An ode written by a soldier
The disease of war is upon us....
Our men our tired, and have lost morale....
I fear there is not much we can do against Uriomi....
The fate of Firlon is upon us, we are the last stand....
We are the ones...
The saviors of Firlon....
We are the ones....
Who will claim that title....
We will gaurd these gates
We will kill, Every, Last, One of those who wish to do harm to us!
We give hope, to our once broken men.
We prepare...
and hope for the best...
The men of Firlon are tired... with little supplies, and low morale from the war. So far, Uriomi has the upper hand, with more soldiers, but your men have an advantage... a goal, a goal to defend their families, to defend their friends, and to defend their homelands! They have 2 regiments, one in the city, and one approaching, you must act fast because the city is already being sieged! |

I've put it in the scenario folder, but don't see it in the list of availible scenarios. |

It is a campaign, so you need to put it in your campaign folder. |

Playability: 2.0
"The Battle of Firlon" is a rather one sided Fixed Force defense scenario. While it may appear that you're going to duke out a long battle, the actual scenario only lasts 5 minutes or so. A very active 5 minutes, but nonetheless, it's a quick scenario that uses up barely half the map. You've got a bunch of reds smushed on a cliff next to your city, and more or less, you have to bring up your reinforcments to back up the whole situation. Once you get the cats in, game over for reds. Too quick and simple and doesn't provide enough of a challenge. Still fairly fun though.
Balance: 1.5
Far too easy; you can win with a few clicks. The only thing you can do wrong is not bring up your reinforcements, or move your archers into enemy cat range. Either way, far too easy. Once you get your cats in, your enemy dies within seconds.
Creativity: 2.5
Defense FFs, in particular ones like these, aren't very creative. No chance to create units, and only one spot where the enemy is attacking. The map is nice though, and sort of reminded me of a "Chinese mountain town". Looked very tidy and neat as well. No terrain rendering though. The story is original in all aspects, but cheesy and has lots of grammar issues. Overall, decent but not a stand-out.
Map Design: 3.2
As said before, no EE work but still very nice. Clean, tidy work that's effective. Simple as that. Looks convincing, and polished.
Story/Instructions: 3.2
Fairly short run-of-the-mill story and instructions. The drama is ruined by bad grammar. The hints aren't much to be had but are helpful. The bitmap is very good for the most part though, and so this is a 3. Aftermath messages are included as well.

(2.5 is the average relative to original AoE campaign game play)
Playability: 2
(Insert Playability analysis here)
Lower then average - big armies with only one scenario campaign will always result in low playability due to limitations on the original AoE. Simply, large military game play is more difficult on the original AoE - though they can be fun, it lacks playability.
Balance: 2.5
(Insert Balance analysis here)
not applicable - hence an average rating
Creativity: 2.6
(Insert Creativity analysis here)
Slightly better then average
Map Design: 2.5
(Insert Map Design analysis here)
An average map
Story/Instructions: 1

Make a campaign out of this and maybe you would get a high score here.
Additional Comments:
Sounds like a decent idea for a campaign, if you put some effort into it. |
