I just decieded today that it is time for some Age of Empires. Since I was too lazy for designing I tested this campaign and, yeah! It's great! I had a lot of fun destroying this city (rather a fortress). It took me more than 3 hours, nearly 4, to complete it. Finally my pure masses crushed the enemy piece by piece. Still it was a very tough fight. I nearly forgot: you have to disable allied victory.

Balance: 5
Balance was perfect. In the beginning I thought it would be too hard. As soon as I managed to invade the grey camp nearby I had a good stand. Yet, I didn't get much from that. Those evil heavy catapults really did a great job. I found only one way fighting them: having more heavy cats by myself. :D Later on I decided to take ballista with masses (and I really mean masses) of legions. After 45 minutes I was pretty sure not to lose but after 2 hours I still wasn't able to say that I was really winning.

Creativity: 4
I liked the use of "nature" and those hidden units. Very cool stuff. In other terms it wasn't exactly that creative. There was only little eye candy and the victory conditions haven't been very inventive, too.

Map Design: 3.5
The map was ok. Nothing more and nothing less. The forests were mostly brushed with the forest tool. Only near the nature heros it has been a little better. The cities also didn't conatin any eye candy except bridges and some place-like roads. There's still much to be done here but I've also seen maps which looked much worse.

Story/Instructions: 4.0
The story is all made up. It is well-written and it has a certain length wich makes it more interesting. I knew what to do and there was a really good bitmap. What I've missed has been something special about it. It's all the same story about a revolting general. Anyway, good job here.

Additional Comments:
download recommendation: Definately, but beware: It IS hard!

I finally got this campaign downloaded and played it. It's a great single scenario campaign. I also had a lot of fun destroying the massive city. Taking me slightly longer than our last reviewer, as I continued after the forest peoples and cursed swamp. Gaining a foothold and converting siege, I began a massive “Shock and Awe” before sending in troops to clean up. Yes a tough go if you lose footing and have to regain.

Balance: 5
Balance was perfect and I knew it would be hard. Enemy heavy catapults really do a number while trying to get close or trying to build a force. After a lengthy back and forth battle taking ground inch by inch I prevailed

Creativity: 4
I enjoyed opening the cursed swamp and getting slain. Also seeing the flying objects added a bit of fantasy. The hidden units were well placed and used perfectly.
Victory conditions were plain but the scenario makes up for it.

Map Design: 4
An Interesting bitmap I must say. The campaign map was creative and unfolded nicely. Forests rolling hills and cliffs blended quite well for me. Nice bridges leading to the opposing side and into the cities. Very little eye candy but none the less pleasing to look at.

Story/Instructions: 4
A fantasy campaign that is well written. Good instructions that tell you what to do. Hints I never look at so judge for yourself.

Additional Comments:
After reading about this from a previous review I had to play this and I am glad I did. Well worth the download. If unprepared you are in for a lengthy battle.
