Playability: 4.3
I failed to find any problems while playing, which I guess is good. At some points, I had so many bowmen; I was unsure whether they would be able to scale the paths at all. For the most part, it all ran smoothly
Balance: 4.1
I found this to be a little easy, thus beating it in a short time. I could take Alexander and take down about seven short swordsmen at a time without healing. After I was hurt enough, I went back to fight. He was able to quickly hack down towers all alone, as well. I did die twice, but not really from difficulty, but carelessness.
Creativity: 4.2
Story + Map Design = A short but fun scenario.
The objectives were a little bland and basic, but I'd have to say that the story gave some life to them.
Map Design: 4.3
In this scenario, you'll see some simple worn out paths from desert patches, some worn out patches of field, a very small marsh, and cacti grass. And lots of elevation and cliffs. They not only add to the design, a bit, but can provide a small (dis)advantage.
Story/Instructions: 4.5
I love the story. A quick little introduction on the characters is what I find nice in stories. I hate to just be thrown into a scenario with nothing to motivate me. The story itself was interesting and captured my attention after just a few lines. The bitmap is pretty simple but still nice, especially with that ES type water.
Additional Comments:
I would say give it a download. Its small file size makes it worth it.

Assassins of the Demanci is a single scenario demo for this designer’s planned campaign. The level is fixed force style, non linear, and with good use of Gaia. The only weakness is that it isn’t very dynamic - the only thing changing during the level is the green and red player fighting a little, and of course the changing makeup of your army. This limits the level a little, though it would make quite a nice entrée to a full campaign. I enjoyed it.
Balance: 2
I played the level on hardest, and beat it in one attempt without saving. It is a short level on a small map, and one I had already seen in the editor, but even if I hadn’t I don’t think I would have had much trouble with it. One problem is that the enemy units are too passive – they need to have a higher reaction distance so that they can’t be picked off one by one. If they all came after you when you attacked a group it would make it much harder, since you couldn’t just kill everything one by one using the superior numbers of your bowmen. There isn’t too much in the level that will be a major threat, and you are well equipped to deal with it, with adequate reinforcements, and ample healers scattered around to fall back on. A little too easy for me, but it should prove a good difficulty for less experienced players.
Creativity: 4
The scenario has a nice non-linear design, so you can go around the map in any path you like, and tackle each objective as you come to it. There was creativity in the way Gaia units were used, especially where they were under threat as soon as you got them, as well as the fighting between the red and green forces. Expanding on this diplomacy and dynamics will yield some creative scenarios.
The map showed some originality, as did the story; a solid effort all around in creativity.
Map Design: 4.5
From the beginning you will see some nice eye candy, including advanced tricks like irrigation channels around farms. The small map is nicely made, with a good balance and skillful designing for a beginner. It will of course take time to have near-perfect map design, but this is a very good start.
Story/Instructions: 4
The story is hard to judge for a demo because you don’t really know what’s coming up. The scenario is mainly about an assassin named Alex, who is one of the last of his kind. His work involves doing contracts for different people, and his current job is one clouded with an evil that seems about to be realized.
The bitmap a good first effort – ironing out the finer details will see some nice intro-maps for this campaign. The main issue though with the story that needs work is the readability. Grammar and spelling issues block the flow of the writing noticably, e.g. of using a capital letter after a comma, and not starting new dialogues on a new line. More care needs to be taken here – write the story out in a word processing program with a spell checker, so that the basic grammar and spelling stuff is fixed up. You can also get someone to read through it to help improve the writing. Another thing that interrupted the flow were random events that didn’t contribute anything at all to the story, like Alex slipping on a rug. Like the grammar style problems, it also interrupts the flow of the writing a great deal.
Overall: 3.7
A strong first scenario. The author has put in a solid amount of effort and is willing to learn and improve. With some persistence we may see some great campaigns from him. |

Total game time was 54 minutes. Twenty-three minutes to complete the scenario and another 27 minutes to move around and open up the map destroy all opposing players and heal all injured men. The only weakness is that it isn’t very dynamic. Too many men comes to mind. Also he should have limited the blind lame priests. A simple game to complete but remember this is just a demo of things to come
Balance: 3
(1I found this to be a little easy, in fact little too easy for me, but for less experienced players it should give them a challenge. As stated earlier enemy units are too passive. If they all came after you when you attacked a group it would make it much harder. Throw in some different units as one unit (the green) is actually military There isn’t too much in the level that will be a major threat, and you are well equipped to deal with it, with adequate reinforcements, and ample healers scattered around to fall back on.
Creativity: 3
A short scenario, but remember just a demo of the real thing to come. The objectives were a little bland and basic. What gave it life was the story line. You can go around the map in any path you like, and tackle each objective as you come to it. The priests of both temples just stood there and did not offer any resistance while you engaged their small security force.
Map Design: 3
The map is nicely made. Simple worn out paths from desert patches, some worn out patches of field, a very small marsh, and cacti grass. I liked the use of elevation. The river was simple and basic which could have been improved but that’s just me. With more time I think the designs will get only better.
The bitmap I liked also. I noticed small errors such as missing brown player and the colouring for Temple of Darkness should have (pardon my pun) darker so you can see it to read it.
Story/Instructions: 4
I found the story quite good. A quick introduction to and about the characters. The story itself was interesting and captured my attention after just a few lines.
Grammar and spelling issues block the flow of the writing noticeably. More care needs to be taken here. The instructions are self explanitory, but for a beginner should be given directly.
