The Last Of The 43rd Platoon

Author File Description
Ross Gilhooly
File Details
Number of Scenarios: 1
Difficulty: Moderate
This campaign is backed up by a novel storyline and play-techniques. It should provide a bit of release from the standard campaigns we see these days. It has bitmaps, as well as a good story line, so enjoy!! -Ross G.

Summary:
"The last of the 43rd Platoon" is a scenario that is set in a time after World War three, in 2075. Despite it's unusal setting, it surprised me positively.

Playability: 4.6
The one scenario of which the campaign was composeed was fun and entertaining. You must guide a group of Photon men (obviously made from the photon man template) through hostile territory and eliminate all other players. Now, one may think that using cheat units may seem easy and boring, but the scenario was arranged in a surprisingly tactical way. More in then creativity section.
The only reason for giving this a 4.6 is the lack of victory conditions.

Balance: 5
As mentioned, the scenario was made hilly and thus it was extremely difficult to maneuver and use the Photon men effectively, since they cannot reach certain enemy units unless they are placed on higher or same level ground. This is why it was surprisingly difficult to protect and at the same time use the cheat units.

Creativity: 4.7
Very nicely arranged scenario, with a large amount of individually arranged trees and enemy positions along with interesting landscapes make this campaign entertaining and challenging. If more eyecandy were used, I'd be sure to give it a 5.0.

Map Design: 4
Like I said above, the scenario was made very entertaining. If more VC's would have been used, I'd give it a higher score.

Story/Instructions: 3.7
The only weak part of the campaign. Instructions were short and the map could have been improved, but overall: No grammar/spelling mistakes, objectives pointed out clearly, and a visible effort on the intro bitmap design.

Additional Comments:
Overall, a very nice and unusual campaign. I can certainly recommend this download.
