This scenario is a tribute to the opening AVI of the game and in it you must defend the Greek city and destroy all the Roman invaders, proving Greek superiority. This is the sister scenario to AoE Legacy.
This scenario is the opposite in playability to AoE Legacy: You must defend the city, and kill all the invaders. However, you lose if only your main government center is destroyed, so it is quite difficult.
This one took me several goes, and was really well balanced. The wave of attackers is pretty overwhelming, so you'll have to rely on bringing in the men from other areas of the city straight away, and then hoping the Romans don't pick your government center out as their main target. After you have gained a chance to breathe and think, look to villagers to get some units again.
Although it is essentially a basic defend scenario, the enemy seem to attack in almost a single charge, which is quite unique. The map design is also creative, but it’s the idea itself that is most creative of all.
Map Design: 4
Very good map design for a big city, and very nice terrain and eye candy. The placement of the government center is good, making the enemy look to other targets as well, while still attacking it often.
Solid instructions and hints, while keeping to a simple story.
Try out Dark Avenger's "AoE Legacy" and his newer "Shaman Tales". Two of my favourite defend scenarios can be found in "Angor Wat and the Khmer Legacy" and "The Taigun".
