The Story: Part 1, The Vision of Amon Ra, chronicled his rise to power and how he became a hero. In this sequel, Amon is called upon to tackle a group of religious fanatics but things are not what they seem, and soon he is taking on the might of the Eastern Dynasty. The Gods watch, and order pizza. Play on hardest with high path finding for best effect.
Enjoyable playability, where you go along completing VC’s that have been well thought out for the scene, makes the player not want to leave the room even if restarts are occasional. I do Admit I used and a couple pizzas here and there (2nd scene) :-) Also they are not fast scenes to finish straight up, so expect some time for B&D.
Balance was there, i.e. in the first scene you have to: scout, obtain units, and then you need to destroy/obtain, then build, scout, and then attack/destroy. Constant rotation keeps the user busy and probably forces occasional restarts, if you don’t save.
Creativity used nice and using proper form and objectives, nothing too outlandish. Not random style mapping but definite structure and purpose. Nice use of mazes, units to avoid/defense perimeters, need explore, etc... To me to improvement could be made in manners in which to arrive at VCs. Might use slightly smaller maps (though it might get crammy) and limiting available buildings?
Map Design: 4.4
Map Design is right down purty, with nice dense forests, clean towns, nice forts, spacious areas for building, etc... However there was not much beta editing/units, intricate towns or terrain rendering, nor eye candy, if you like that stuff. Very nice map templates
Storyline was thought-out and well written. For those of us who have not look @ The Vision of Amon Ra, who is Baron Rotang? a better history of the enemy would be better. Also did not prefer reading VCs in the Hint section.
Thoroughly enjoyed this piece from a master, you will too. No doubt if a little more editing/eye candy was added this would rank superb.
