A FUN scenario based on the exploits of champions Manchester United! You are the European Champions, but the other mighty teams of Europe have had enough of you taking all the GLORY! Defend Manchester from the likes of Rangers, The Chelsea Boys, and Paris St Germain. You are on your own. The beginning game is difficult; in fact cleverly placed walls and trees make this section of the game seem IMPOSSIBLE but do not falter in your bid for European Glory; hang in there and build slowly. The mighty Rangers hide intially behind the great wall in the north and a rival football team in the midlands won't leave you alone. It won't be long however before you will be attacke from land and sea at the same time. Additional notes by CJ's brother: For a small level with no .AI or .PER files the enemy act surprising viciously and cleverly. I kept getting mashed until I thought my way round it and won in about 1.5 hours. Thoroughly enjoyable - but no harsh comments please, this is a good attempt for someone's FIRST scenario. Multiplayer also : No |

It seems some of my fellow reviewers have had a go at this one, and with no luck. Either they were unable to finish it, or too exasperated by it to write a review.
Playability and Balance: 1 & 1
Rather than actually try and finish this campaign, for lack of a bitmap, or good hints, I just looked at the map using cheats, and what I found was ridiculous. You basically have to take on about 4 other players, on a small map, from the stone age. You'll get ripped to pieces in a few seconds by a catapult trireme if not a bunch of hoppers and Hero Jason. The teams are done in "Free for all" fashion, but you are in the middle, and villies can't fight hoplites.
There are no islands to escape you and the one you are on is full of enemies, so both booming and hiding are not an option. You can't ally them either, or escape to sea with a dock, because the water is deep on the borders with land. So is there any way to finish it? Well, I'd say the enemies will use up all the berries quickly and you'll have nothing to get to tool with, so no, not really. The only person that could finish this would be a cheater.
Creativity: 2
Besides the concept of playing as football teams (or their fans, whatever it was), there's no creativity really. The map is somewhat original but it doesn't work.
Map Design: 1
Well, any competence in city designing was overshadowed by the lack of playability, once again.
Story: 2
Attempts to have a brief story and instructions. If you are so football mad that you really think that the little villagers have some resemblance to Man United, go ahead and play it. |

... I've had a go at it some time ago but forgot to play on. I'm wondering about one thing though, did you really get hammered that fast? Because I had plenty of time to build up until I saved, noticed the file was corrupted when trying to reload later and forgot to start again. |

They were on me in a second on moderate, and I never attacked them. A catapult trireme, some hoplites, some cavalry... I'm sure that they'll attack you early unless you play on easiest, and even then it will be tough. You have to expand to find new food and such. Not really sure if it's possible on easiest, maybe, but I can't really be bothered. Perhaps if you made a very strong navy (if there's any normal water boundaries that you can build docks at) and reached bronze before they attacked you... |
