Playability: 2.3
This demo is a simple defence FF, where all you have to do is defend your wonder. You've got yourself a mediocre-sized walled city with ballista towers, everything post-iron. Your adversaries are 7 different fellows, all attacking you with different units---from clubmen to hoplites. One thing to note here is that you enemies actually train their units---it's not all splotched on right away. They all will consistently throw units at you throughout the course of the game. They aren't a threat however, considering you have 5000 of each resource and you're free to pump out whatever you want. The objective here however is nil---there isn't a wonder timer, so the only way to win is to blot out all the units on the map, which really isn't the most fun. Overall, this doesn't quite make sense but it does work in a strange way. It's fairly enjoyable but has it's drawbacks.
Balance: 2.5
The balance here is below average. You may have 7 enemies pounding you at once, but they are all in the bronze age, slowly building up while you are post-iron with a city and 5000 of each resource. The way your adversaries' bases are situated is very odd---there's a mini fort with loads of villies and TC's in one spot, random economic buildings somewhere else, and then a couple actual bases. However, to the author's credit, each of the seven enemies in the game will consistently attack you once they find you. If you aren't paying attention to what's going on at your home base, there is a chance you could lose the game. Anyone who takes this scenario seriously however, will roll right over it.
Creativity: 2
The gameplay is typical, but the map-setup is very odd and strange. The use of mass priests is really irritating and does mix up the play a bit. The bases allocated throughout the map are also quite unorthodox. The poor story and the choice of just straight using a random map bring this down to a below-average score.
Map Design: 2.5
A coastal map and that's it. Typical 2.5 score.
Story/Instructions: 1.8
Very simple story and instructions-2 sentences---along with a helpful hint. Pretty poor, but does get it's point across.
Additional Comments:It really doesn't make any sense, although it is enjoyable for about one play. I do find it somewhat perplexing how each enemy attacks so consistently... If this were developed a bit more, it could have been a decent scenario. Considering this guy has left HG ages ago, I'm not even going to keep tabs on this.
