The Siege of Tyre

Author File Description
File Details
Number of Scenarios: ?
Difficulty: Hard
The time is 333 BC. You, Alexander the Great, have decided the Tyrians must be punished for their unwillingness to give you free access to their fortified island citadel. To do this, you must first destroy the Tyrian outpost on the mainland of The Levant and secure the cooperation of the Cyprians. Beware of the Phoenicians and the Persians. Your task is not easy, but you must accomplish it to secure your lines of communication as you pursue your place in history. Thanks to OldGrex for his advice while I was making this campaign.

This is a very fun scenario/campaign. Judging from the opening bitmap, which was one of the best I had ever seen, I expected this would be a great scenario... and I was right. You have a medium-size army, and must establish a base in the area until you are able to defeat Tyre. However, this scenario has a couple of unique twists to it. First of all is this: there is a tribe in the area who will furnish you with naval units if you can get on their good side. I will not give you any hints on how to do it -- I will just say that without these ships it is nearly impossible to win. The other twist is the lack of resources in the area, making farming and trading an absolute necessity, as well as proper guarding of the resources you can find. Also, there are other tribes in the area who will give you some competition for resources, as well as blocking your path of exploration in many spots. Good naval scouting is required before you actually attack Tyre, an island fortress, and make sure you have a fair amount of naval units. Without them, you will be in for a rude awakening. This scenario will take a while to beat, as it requires much build-up, planning, and scouting, but all the time spent playing it is very enjoyable. All in all, this is a very fun level to play. Very nicely balanced, this scenario will tax your capabilities to the fullest. The Map Design is nice, and looks very realistic. Add to this an extremely well-done bitmap and an accurate and interesting story, along with a few unique ideas and twists, and you have a great scenario!
