Now this is my kind of scenario! Featuring AoE puzzle and quest at it's best, this is truly a level you will not want to miss. The author makes very good use of many elements to create a scenario that is nearly great. From the very start, right through till the "You Are Victorious" message, this level will test your skills to the fullest. Don't expect any building up, though. If you are looking for fast-paced, in-your-face AoE action, then this scenario should be one of your first choices! You are Hero Jason, and you must accomplish a variety of unique and challenging tasks, all the while travelling through beautiful terrain and solving interesting puzzles. See beautiful bridges, swamps, aqueducts, and many other things as you journey up the mountainside towards your ultimate goal. I have only one problem with this scenario; there is one part where you must run your Hero through a number of composite bowmen, while trying to avoid their fire. This is extremely hard, and it took me a Loooooong time before I could finally do it. Other than that one part, this is a great scenario, and if you are looking for a fun time playing AoE, you must try this one.
Fall of the Mountain is a scenario (as it is indeed a .scx file) where you have to accomplish several tasks in order to rebuild and reclaim your village which has been attacked many years ago.
It is a slow scenario where you are rarely under real pressure. Yet, you might lose due to lack of awareness or by fulfilling soem victory conditions in the wrong order.
After about one hour, you have rescued your village and eternal joy awaits you. :D
As mentioned above, I think, the scenario is a bit too easy as you can only lose, if you make mistakes. It would have been more interesting, if the yellow player had a village where he could pump out units and attack you.
Anyways, you might still lose this scenario by running into trouble or getting converted.
A lot of players, one ally, several victory conditions, which even have to be fulfilled in the right order - this I call crreative. Ok, nowadays campaigns are definately even more creative, but back then, this campaign was a nice piece of work.
Map Design: 4.5
Parts of the map look very good (especially concerning the age of this campaign), but other parts are a bit warren and empty. For the nice village with burning buildings I give a high rating here.
The story is nothing special to me, but well done and enough for a single scenario. The instructions were clear and there has even been a nice bitmap.
download recommendation: Yes, if you wish an easy distraction.
