Budonia is a mythical land of witches, invisible demons and saints who walk on water. It is up to you whether you survive or disappear in the mists of Budonia forever. You'll have to be tactical and solve some riddles to master this campaign. You will have quite a few enemies to cope with. Among the worst are wicked King Murgul, the fiendish Jasonites and the immortal Sorcerer. Whatever you do, don't provoke the old wizard! No sword or arrow can kill him, and his vengeance will be horrible... You are not alone in this hostile world though. Your Ancestors are watching over you, and they might come to your rescue when everything seems hopeless. Treat them with respect - you won't even survive the first scenario without them. This campaign is not for fantasy fans only, but being an AoE fan helps. I hope you'll enjoy playing this. If you've got any comments, questions or suggestions, please email me. Special thanks to - OldGrex for his excellent .ai and .per files, bugfixes and our inspiring correspondence. - my incognito play tester for his time and patience. |

As I played this campaign, the first thought that popped into my mind was, "This is too good to be true." Right from the very first scenario I could tell what a great campaign this was going to be. It seems like every time I think that I have seen everything AoE has to offer, a campaign like this comes along and proves to me how wrong I was. In this truly awesome campaign, you must guide the Budonian Tribe as it rises to power. Along the way, you will meet saints that can walk on water, evil spirits, sorcerors, the evil Jasonites, priests that you must guide, assassins, ghosts, and many other things. This campaign is truly one of the great classics of all-time. The Playability and Balance are nothing short of perfect, each scenario being beatable without being too easy. But, in my opinion, the two best parts of this campaign are the Creativity and the Map Design. This campaign utilizes many incredible features that will use the capabilities of AoE to the fullest. Diplomacy, puzzle, quest, resource management, build-up, battles, you name it, this campaign probably has it. The Map Design will totally blow you away, with beautifuly designed cities, towns, swamps, gates, forests, paths, roads, aqueducts, enchanted bridges, gardens, desert forests, puzzles, traps, hedges, water plants, and more features than I can list (or probably even count), make this one of the most visually stunning campaigns I have ever seen. The Story/Instructions are superb, and are enhanced by beautiful bitmaps. The Victory Conditions are clearly laid out, and the hints are very helpful. If it was possible to get a higher rating than 5.0, this is one of the few campaigns that is worthy of it. Although I believe that there is no such thing as a perfect campaign, this is as close to one as you are ever going to see. |
