The expansion is looking promising, we are steadily doing our own part at our own pace and have made (and not made) multiple decisions regarding the expansion. Wish us luck, if you would be so kind.

Features:
Indian Building Set
4 new Civilizations - Alpha stage bonuses
X new Researches (Decided on)
5 new Units (Decided on)
New Interfaces
New Menu Backgrounds (Working on)
Game improving features
New Soundtrack (Working on)

Hurdles:
Turtle Pack Glitch, when two darkest player colours do not change player colour
Anything that is hard coded.

Notice
I would ask that people on the team would refrain from publicly sharing what the new content is in the expansion for now.

Job List:
Epd999: Data editor, Death Match AI maker
Phatfish: Soundtrack, UI
yohomes2: Modeling & Post processing
Todler: Modeling & Post processing
Chab: Software editor
Mystery Man: ...

Hello everyone,

It has been a while since we posted here since we have been rather busy with real life but to show you we are still working on the mod, here is a screenshot of the new Tool Age set. Apart from the new buildings, it also features the new awesome UI and logo made by Phatfish. Much more work remains to be done but we'd like to thank you all for your continuous support and patience. Hopefully we can show you more progress in the near feature.

Cheers,
The BtI design team

You are doing a great job, and I am sure the wait will be worth of the quality of the finished product.

Don't forget to have fun too!

Good job with the progress. Things are looking awesome. Now do you think you can add in a new map for Random Map and Deathmatch called "Valley"? I think it would be a good idea because that new map can be based around the Valleys of South and Southeast Asia (i.e. Indus Valley). Also, that map can have the tigers and huntable harmless animals that are native to India.

A peacock will be a nice addition to gaia units, tiger is too similar to lions and India has lions.

@Mahazona Regarding what you said, a peafowl would be a nice addition to gaia units. Now there are lions in India but a tiger would still be a good idea and also, the lion and tiger would probably be different colors as well as some other differences. AOE2 and 3 have a lion unit and a tiger unit I notice.

I think the Tiger should have the stats of the King Lion but unlike Lions which appear in small groups, Tigers apear on their own. This is to reflect the fact that tigers are larger and stronger than lions but are generally solitary animals while Lions prefer to be in prides.

The_Patriarck help would be appreciated. We are still working on the project, slowly but surely. What are your abilities? Do you have experience with any of these skillsets: graphic design/art, music, 3d modelling, scenario design, writing?

I have some experience with graphic/art design and 3d modeling. Writing is a broad skill, what in particular is needed for writing?

We'd be happy to have you join. Do you have any examples of work you've done previously in art and 3d modelling? Writing we will eventually write out the campaign histories and instructions.

We talk by Skype in a group chat.

You guys are doing a great job.
the idea of you should be used for a new official expansion of age of empires: definitive edition. unfortunately I am neither programmer nor desainer. but I would like to make suggestions.
for new units, they could use:
1) Slinger upgrade: strong slinger (Bronze age).
2) Camel rider upgrade: armored camelry (iron age).
3) flamethrower, but it should also have bonuses against buildings or minimum towers (iron age).
4) An upgrade to Archer's Elephant (Iron Age).
5) An update for archer charriot (Iron Age).
6) An upgrade to Axemen (Bronze Age).
7) An upgrade to Scout (Bronze Age).
1) I would support the idea of a Slinger upgrade, perhaps even give the Greeks some attack bonuses from slingers so that they can fill the gap of lacking decent non-siege ranged unit. This would represent the famous Slingers from Rhodes.

2) Camel Rider upgrade would be a useful upgrade to keep the Camel Rider competive against Iron Age Heavy Cavalry and Cataphracts. Probally would look like something like this https://weaponsandwarfare.files.wordpress.com/2015/11/fbbfdb.jpg

3) I strongly disagree about the flamethrower. It would be anachronistic as flamethrowers would not be invented until sometime in the medieval peroid and only by the Eastern Roman Empire. A far better idea would be an Assyrian style Siege Ram as a bronze age melee siege weapon that has high health and extremely high pierce armour.

4) While an upgrade to Elephant Archer would sound cool there is going to be problems. The only logical upgrade to an Elephant Archer is to a ballista on top, but there is a problem. The only known instance of ballista armed war elehpants is from the Kingdom of Khmer and the Khmer would be far too recent for Age of Empires 1. So no ballista elephants saddly.

5) An upgrade for Chariot Archer might work in the form of a Carroballista but I think the niche is alreadly being filled in with the Horse Archer

6) I would strongly approved of a bronze age upgrade for the axeman infact there even an iron age upgrade for the bronze age upgraded axeman. It should come in the form of a melee infantryman that has extremely high attack damage, attack bonus vs acadmeny units and costs only food to train but has low health and no armour. It would serve an excelent way to get in some sort of European Barbarian unit into the game and break up the overwhelming majority of Greco-Roman athestics to in game units.
Bronze Age: Great Axeman
Iron Age: Falxman

7) I would definely agree the need for an upgrade for a scout upgrade. Would love a moderate strength cheap unit that can counter horse archers.

Knight what do you think about

1) Spearman- Immortal- Light spear infranty
2) Javelin-Peltast - anti archer unit which cost wood and food, but dont have chance Slingers.
3) Lancers-Heavy lancer-Gripanvar(Cibanarii) or Hetaroi- Heavy armored Cavalry slover than rest horses with very good attack.
4) Ram Ships- Elite ram Ship- Similar too fire ship, but less HP and atack Costs only wood.

5) Elephants Archers upgrade could called Armored Elephant Archers and Hindu countrys could have it.
6) Axe Throver
7) Ram
8) Camel Archer

Chinese also had them but you are right about the time period being early middle ages. Still we can always go back and forth because ES already made that precedent with the fire galley(it clearly has tubes that spew fuel).
A far better idea would be an Assyrian style Siege Ram as a bronze age melee siege weapon that has high health and extremely high pierce armour.
Catapults deal melee damage and will one shot them. Any infantry unit would catch up to them, even villagers. So what their use against lone towers?
5) An upgrade for Chariot Archer might work in the form of a Carroballista but I think the niche is alreadly being filled in with the Horse Archer
Actually xbow chariot sounds interesting but they are already OP in bronze age because of their no-gold cost.
6) I would strongly approved of a bronze age upgrade for the axeman infact there even an iron age upgrade for the bronze age upgraded axeman. I only like the idea for bonus vs academy units. Other than that gold-cost swordsmen are already nearly useless, so we make the axemen better than them even in iron age?
7) I would definely agree the need for an upgrade for a scout upgrade. Would love a moderate strength cheap unit that can counter horse archers.
I don't see how an improved scout would be able to counter horse archers, huge bonus damage?

(7) then you're talking about camels...

One of the most relevant change to better balance horse archers is to remove their pierce armor, this defense does not make sense.

Catapults deal melee damage
Maybe this is in fact dumb and unintuitive?

Give swordsmen a bonus against axes and you'd pretty much have the light->medium->heavy infantry system from the Age of Italy mod?
