The Greco-Bactrian Kingdom



Scenario I: Hellenic Influence

In the area of modern Afghanistan and Western China, The ancient Kingdom named Bactria has gone corrupt. You start with a bronze age village, and your first goal is to eliminate nearby two Bandit camps, which have grown in power. Beware their counterattacks.

Then, your next object is to convert your easternmost city,
Alexandria, to hellenism while you turn against and destroy the eastern-style culture there.

Fortunately, the near Bactrian cities of Sogdiana and Merv will give you some aid. These cities, however, are not directly under your control.

Also the corruption has caused the grown of brigand raiders among your roads.











Scenario II: To tame the Tribes

After you have gained control of your homeland, you decide to expand. You are client state of enormous Seleucid Empire to the west, and warring with them now would result in your doom.

That's why you need to attack the primitive(but hardy) Asian tribes to the east. Elephants might be their strongest trick.

Aside from destroying them, as a client state, you'll need to give dept to your Seleucid masters. These are the 3 Artifacts you will have to capture and bring to the nearest Seleucid settlement. One is within the jungle, one with the tribes and the last have been captured by pirates to the southern sea.


Scenario III: Parthian backstab

To the west of your mainland lies Parthia(or Cyrtia). While you have been campaigning in the east, the Parthians take advantage of it and invade to your lands.

First you'll have to repel the first attacking force with the default troops you have. After that, rebuild your economy and military. When you are strong enough, counterattack Parthia to settle things.

This scenario might will have some more other tricks before ready.


Scenario IV: Day of Indenpence

After Cyrtia is yours, you should be strong enough to separate from client state of Seleucid Empire. Naturally, the Seleucids act this as treachery, and will immediatly mobilize their troops towards your state.

More should be come in time with this scenario.


Scenario V: The Fall of an Empire

As the name suggests, now it's time to conquer the Seleucids once and for all. It definetly won't be easy, but you might be given a helping hand from The mighty Ptolemaic Empire on the other side of your enemy. Those two have always been arch enemies towards each other.

Much more stuff should be added to this scenario.

Such pretty. I especially like the look of those rivers running through the forest. It's nice to see someone is keeping the Scenario Design forum rolling with some updates, so keep up the good work Aracuan!

The map design looks great, you are painting with the editor! Its a world Id like to get lost in when its finished, and have some yummy crocodile filet for myself too. Just one suggestion, I would not let the large waterfalls cover up trees halfway - its the only thing I stumbled over in your screenshots, which look perfect otherwise.

I have now finished map design for scenario 1.

Here's a few more screenshots from it:







Now I'll have to focus on AI city and perfiles, aswell as on scenario messages.

And I also hope they would soon let the option to put a pre-game map. I would really like to include those in my scenarios.

Lastly, I will have to test the scenario through, to see if it's playable or not.

You know, I always just assume that my scenarios are playable upon release and if they aren't players will usually get back to me eventually.

You screenshots look as lovely as always, especially those barren lands in the second pic.

I think I'll continue this when the game goes on Steam.
With that, I hope they'll fix that "pre-game map" bug along with it.

Since I got a little tired of waiting for the pre-game map fix to come, I started designing the second scenario.

You could use these old men's help.


One of your primary objectives will be to destroy the lighthouse at the top of pirates cove.

Yes, I'm now working on the second scenario. The map is about half designed.

On the first scenario, the map is complete, but it still misses messages and the instruction map.

I had never seen such high quality screenshots before. How cool is it that a game made for CRT monitors is now available in 4K. Beautiful!

Have the devs ever fixed the issue of fish swimming in the air?

You can't use instruction bitmaps in DE. Someone made the stupid decision to remove this feature completely. I guess you could still make one and add it to your project however.

The map design is great!

I assume it basically means ship a few jpegs with your campaign file and tell the user to look at them.

My Scenario on Thomas' Mission to Indo-Parthia features the Kushan invasion of cities that had been part of the Greco-Bactrian kingdom and used their architecture and also mentions the Greco-Bactrians in the Story section:

The Greeks built some Greek cities or renovated them in a Greek style after they had been built by non-Greeks in the Central Asian region and Pakistan. They were conquered by Parthians but there was still Greek education in some major cities like Taxila. They were again conquered later by the Kushans, which is part of the Scenario that I made.
