Anybody knows a setting or an option which would allow to put any object anywhere on the map, like trees or buildings on water?

Some rocks can be placed both on land and on water, but to put any possible object to any place on the map would be nice.

ctrl+g for off-tile
ctrl+s for overlapping

but there seems to be no terrain overriding

AGE can now modify the dat, so you can edit it to have an enhanced editor like in the original ... when DE supports dat modding, or when you use oher method to bypass UWP.

Universal Windows Platform.

It's a shame no option for enabling fog terrain or all units is included, I sort of expected that with DE - should be very easy to implement in any case...

Yes, I hope we could be using scenario editor freely without inhibitions.

I see there are unique pictures in the campaign section of menu for official campaigns, like a trireme for 1st Punic war. Is there any way to put an own image for a custom campaign, not to just keep the plain picture of a pot with swords? Notice, that I'm not talking about scenario instruction map.

Also, in the same custom campaign menu, just above the picture, there reads "Custom Game". Can this be changed to the name of the campaign?

And, how to put the description about the campaign just below this title?

Those background images are hard-coded, I'm pretty sure of that. Same goes for Custom Game. I think the descriptions are too...

I'm holding out on serious designing for now. DE's editor is just not up to par with the original because things are missing/compatibility issues and even balance differences. I don't feel like constantly switching back and forth between the original game and DE when I need to playtest.

Oh and that reminds me, to answer your original question: you can design with the original AoE/RoR with the custom editor .dats and then port the scenario over to DE. That means all kinds of eye-candy, just don't expect it all looks just as fancy or works out as you planned. I tried this and got mixed results. Of course this doesn't apply to any of DE-only unique objects as they are not available in the original AoE/RoR.

Modding capabilities now please! Screw UWP.

I understand. That's one way to make scenarios, but it really would be 100% better if the DE could be modded, like you said.
It would be much more practical that way, and would make the designing more easier and sharp.

I hope we soon can use the mods that help designing in DE!

Here I decided to show some pictures that come from 1998 version of the game to Definitive Edition. All these images are from scenarios I made, and uploaded here in HG.

Shame that they're hard-coded. I really would have liked to recustomize those to be suited for my campaign...

Nice screenshots. -yeah the design has certain limitations as of now. I have no clue if these restrictions would be removed in some moment (I hope so) but for now we will have to deal with them.

I thought FE had expressed the wish to eventually open up the game to modding. Wouldn´t this neccesitate allowing us to fiddle around with the files?
Why the game files are encrypted at the moment is beyond me..

Yes, need to wait until the time for modding comes, and we can use advantages of it, like in scenario design.

Also, it would be good if the new scenario in editor wouldn't
automatically create default eye-candies.

Actually you can use ctrl+r to override terrain restrictions.

If you want full freedom to place objects anywhere, use ctrl+g,s,r together.

Almost full freedom of placement, trying to place objects on the map edges doesn't work in DE (and is rather useful). A simple option to turn on or off the editor_radius is most welcome.
