For those who are not aware of this yet: AoEH supports custom designed scenario's and campaigns made with the Definitive Edition and can host them for you in our Downloads section - the Granary!

Important: When submitting your custom scn or cpn, be sure to select "Definitive Edition" from the Version dropdown menu. Additionally you may want to add that your work is for AoE: Definitive Edition only in the description.

We have our first DE submission in the Granary, called War of the Ring, based on Tolkien's amazing fantasy novels. Check it out!

Cool, I just tested it and uploaded a "remastered" version of my 1999 Mago campaign, both here and at ageofempires.com. Hope the DE version runs for everyone without problems.

My new double album, "Song Machine Vol. 1 and 2" with 24 of my songs is online now on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon and most other online services. Check it out, it's published under my name.

It's up. No problems so far I had already played Tai Gun II in the beta, that was awesome but not without the VC issues. Are you planning on updating your other campaigns too?

Hey Phatfish, yes - I‘m updating Chou Kung at the moment. Will see if I also update the others, depends on how many people are around these days that want to replay them.

I found that some scenarios in Tai Gun 1&2 and Budonian Tales that involve hunting birds, or fire galleys behind walls as „burning at the stake/Fire Gates“, don‘t work with DE anymore... glad that these are just a few.

The player base hasn't been large since like forever (unlike AoK, AoE has a small and humble community), though with DE there is a surge of course.

Happy to hear you are enjoying DE and updating Chou Kung too, I would love giving that a blast

Turns out the last Chou Kung scenario has a big DE problem. With the latest DE update, allies don‘t turn enemy anymore when I attack them. The second half of that scenario depends on that because an ally-then-enemy archer should attack my blindlame priest, flare up and discover the second fixed-force army.

Edit: Removed that trick and found a workaround.

I think that's something in the .per file. If you can use a .per file that you used originally it should work.

Originally you wouldn't have had to specify that in the .per file. This is one instance where the default behavior of the AI was changed.

Yes. Also, I find that passive.per CPs are not really passive anymore. If they have one unit, that unit will start scouting or attacking.

I just looked at the AI and PER folders in Age of Empires but they are empty. Any idea how to access and edit those files?

There is a new .per called ImmobileUnits (something along those lines) in the per dropdown list in DE's editor. It does exactly what the name says and it now replaces passive.per (again, breaking compatibility with older scenario's that rely on this...).

Probably another "benefit" of it being a w10 store game, making things needlessly difficult for users, especially designers/modders

Just saw some AoE: DE campaigns in the granary, so that's a good start. But it would be a nice improvement if there was something that could filter campaigns from the original and from AoE: DE.

Indeed, it's a small thing but it might make life a little easier for some people who don't have AoE: DE, or those who only have the original - especially when there'll be many more uploads of DE in the future... helps to organize a little bit.

EDIT: I, for instance, have been making a campaign for the original version (and I guess a few others might too) and so the granary would be in a disorganized jumble if there were a mix of DE and original version uploads in the future.

For now it would be best to include AoE DE in the title of your work. Currently the search engine only allows for searching categories and keywords, authors. I specifically chose not to add new categories for DE because that would clutter things even more (we already have so much categories!). I will look into the search engine and see if it is able to search for versions as well. I can't promise anything though.
