I had the same problem. when you re-installed aoe/ror, did you first uninstall them from the add/remove function in the control pannel? Thats what i had to do, (uninstall, then install) as opposed to using the re-install option. Try that and see if it works. It straightend mine out, and i haven't had any problems since. If aoe/ror doesn't show up in your add/remove list, just use windows explore to delete the whole folder, then reboot, and install. I think it's some kind of registry problem. I've had it happen before with other programs, and the only thing that seemed to work was getting rid of all traces of it and starting over.
