Hi aoe_scout,
I'd like to make some suggestions for 1.1. I'm not sure if these can be implemented and feel free to give comments on them.
1 Make farmers idle when farms expire
Currently they run away, either they go to a nearby farm to harvest there, even if there is already a farmer there. This is nearly useless as only one farmer can farm at the same time and the villager cannot be selected via the idle village key and they are usually in the way when I want to place a new farm. Moreover it's annoying that when they run away that they are 1 in the way when I want to place a new farm and 2 are not between the Granary / Town Center and the farm anymore and I first have to send them back again.
2 Increase attack (trigger) radius of melee units
Something I see in every game is that melee units stand fairly closely to an enemy building (or enemy unit), but they don't attack. Yesterday I had a painful situation where long swordsmen didn't attack the enemy cavalry units that were cutting through a small group of nearby composite bowmen. I think that the minimum attack (trigger) range of melee units is too small. Is this radius equal to the sight radius?
3 Idle villager warning and counter
I like the fact that you hear a sound when a farm expires. I wonder if it could be possible to have a sound when a villager goes idle and have a counter of the amount of idle villagers on your screen.
4 Make fishing boats idle if the path to its destination keeps being blocked for a while
Far too often fishing boats get stuck (in rivers f.i.) because they try to pass another boat but they can't. They keep trying though: a fishing boat who's trying to move past another boat is not selectable via the idle villager button. The only way to see if the boat is trying to move instead of fishing is to click the boat and see if the food increases. Is it possible that if a fishing boat can't reach its destination, that it stops trying to move after a while and become selectable via the idle villager button? I doubt if it's possible to make (empty) fishing boats move out of the way / a couple of spaces back (or in a random directory) when they are unable to move.
5 Make catapults not attack into a ground of friendly units
Bringing catapults in your army can be a pain. If an enemy unit runs into your units, chances are that the catapults kill your units and are a greater threat to you that enemy unit is. I don't know if we can do anything about this.
