Keep this polite, gentlemen, the 2 lion statue small comment was, apparently, just a joke. But to avoid misunderstandings like this in the future and totally unnecessary friction between members, I recommend to make use of the smileys.

I am sorry for writing in such a way that seemed like a joke. Yes, if it was a joke I would would put images such as: , there is a lot to choose from . On the other hand I meant every word I said in my previous post and it wasn't a joke, I was probably in a good mood when I said it.

I have no intentions of turning this thread into a needless discussion. I just wanted to make clear like I previous said that while I welcome feedback to my work it needs to stay constructive. We put a lot of time in these models and so it's not too much to ask to put a bit of time in phrasing your comments properly.

That said I had an accident and am forced to take a break from all computer work for some time. I'll let you guys know when I'm back.

Hello guys! I'm very suprised because of job you actually did in this topic! I'm big fan of AoE and created account on this page to ask you one thing. Are you going to make some unofficial expansion for AoE? If yes then message me and I can make some new soundtrack for that expansion!

Btw I didn't want to make more posts so here I'll put my suggestion about new rams! You could use both rams in AoE but in different civilization (hope that you know what I mean).

Sorry for my english, I know that I suck at that language :P

Ja, stärk en het best Jan.

Going back to Yohomes latest creation, I'm not a big fan of courtyards in wonders. It's a bit culturally ambiguos, whereas I feel like a good wonder draws attention to what was significantly unique for that civilizaton. I would prefer it if the lions (because we all know there'll be two of them) could occupy a more visible place.

While the graphic you posted before the last one was a bit too similar to the earlier Assyrian wonder in composition, it felt more like a non-generic wonder graphic to me. I would prefer more focus on the gate and the lions, and less of the surrounding construction seen in the last one.

And Heunabu, please don't be afraid to make more posts, it's a lot easier if we can collect all discussion around the same topic in one thread, so that we talk about the new unit graphics in that thread. Currently any mod plans aren't exactly settled, but hopefully all these separate projects will be included in some mod in the future.

What Epd999 suggests is very good.

Another line of thought:
Which are the real 7 wonders of the world?
-Great Pyramid of Giza, check(Egypt)
-Collosus of Rhodes, check(Greek?)
-Hanging Gardens, new(Babylon)
-Pharos of Alexandria, new(Macedon)
-Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, n/a
-Statue of Zeus at Olympia, n/a
-Temple of Artemis in Ephesus, n/a
Other:
-Ziggurat of Ur, check(Sumer?)
-Ishtar Gate, n/a

Now i know that some of these were already made for other games, so won't look very original and they are mostly greek but worth mentioning.

Alright epd999, I'll make a base model with those suggestions and post it here untextured, see how it comes out. I've been busy with work, and it may get even busier these coming weeks. But I want to make that wonder and help out Jan with his Carthaginian building set while he can't model.

I can't wait to see what the model looks like.

However...
I don't know if there hill inside wall (Like Egyptian Iron Temple)
Bushes and Trees inside wall (This ones a given, but if there is a hill I don't know if it would look that nice with shrubs over it.
I noticed (and like) the the bricks of Hittites buildings are irregular and thought it would be interesting if the texture represented that.

Alright here's the new rough draft based on suggestions. Any thoughts? I was also thinking of making a new lion based upon this image

but that would take a bit of time, and the one there could suffice.

Nice start. It's not quite how I envisioned it, though.
I still think that the central part of the building needs more to it. An arched to the stairs would look nice as well, just behind the lions.

Just I thought, what would it look like if you have it on a hill/slope instead of a flat surface?

Like this kind of arch? I don't know what you mean by it being on a hill.

This wonder has gone through many revisions, I'll still continue working on it, but I don't think there will be a point where everyone agrees that it's their ideal (nor will any wonder).

Not really, I want it to kind of curve into it, and may not connect at all. Like this one:http://www.reflectionsenroute.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/HittiteArch.jpg
By behind it I meant just behind still on the same leveled plat form.
I don't know what you mean by it being on a hill.
On the sides of the stairs it has got 4 large flat areas, I was wondering how it looked if it was sloped.

Also in my example sketch it was meant to be a wall surrounding stairs leading to the building.

My suggestion for the Hittite wonder:

When you make the arch that Epd99 suggested, why not make it a part of an external, smaller, separate building on the entrance?

Since it is hard to find an unique architecture for the Hittite wonder due to lack of source material, making an "outer" building could help it differentiate from the other wonders (every wonder in AOE is generally a large, single building).

Then, on the space between the "outer" part and the main part you could decorate with roads, stairs, water fountains, garden, statues or anything you think that could look good.

Btw just like yohomes2 I'm taking a small break, but don't worry I'll try to get at least a first version of the new wonders done. Already did most of the data work and got a UP compatible mod so all that's left is to update the graphics and upload it to the granary.

Awesome, looks closer to the Egyptian set rather than the Babylonian.

For the size at least it's not as small as the previous version but it's still about the size of a Siege Workshop. In a scenario or a town placed between the other buildings it won't strike me as a wonder.

The Hittite wonder is looking great, but the hill surrounding it looks artificial. Maybe you could add some irregularities to the terrain to look more natural?

The Iron age Egyptian temple is a good example of a building sitting on a hill that you could use as a model.

I could do it like this which is more similar to the Mesopotamian temple.

I think the ancient chinese need a new wonder as the Temple of Heaven is far too recent, it was built during the Ming Dynasty between 1402 and 1420 AD.

For new civilisation I think the following moneuments can work as wonders
Germanics:
The King's Grave

Håga mound

Celts:
Goseck Henge

Goloring

Stonehenge (technically Stonehenge was built long before the arrival of the celts in Britain therefore should not count)

Callanish Stones (once again built before the arrival of the celts in Britain but I found them to be really impressive and unquie

Dacians:
Sarmizegetusa Regia

Scythians:
Mausoleum of King Scylurus

The Royal Kurgan of Kerch

Armenians:
Van citadel

Musasir temple

Maurya (ancient India)
Great Stupa at Sachi

Arabians
Marib Temple

Ad Deir, Petra

Al Khazneh, Petra

Yes indeed Axum lies in modern Ethiopia, and the Pyramid structures were built by the Nubians (btw I corrected your previous post).

There's one problem I see with the word 'Ethiopian' and is that such denomination for an ethnic group has been used too loosely historically since the times of Herodotus, for many different groups, some that are actually Ethiopians while others that are not.

I find that The use of Ethiopian by western scholars in the past was like the use of the word 'Frank' by Near Easterners during the crusades.
