Here are the final results from the judges Suppiluliuma, PhatFish and FruktFisk. Okay now is my time to judge. Remember my cultural sensitivities differ greatly from those of the rest of the community (at least the regular posters). So And finally, the moment you have been waiting for!. The 1st place goes to...DoomFrost!. I know there's a lot of myth surrounding him, including the mirror tower controversy, but Archimedes was pretty amazing. Like the Leonardo Da Vinci of his time. Also the caption about toast is Archimedes level of genius! great job! I just imagined how easy would be for H Cats to take down units when they are in a 'traffic jam'. This deals with an issue similar to sonictimm's, but orders of magnitude more extreme. The AI is everything but intelligent. Again this happens in game and I have seen how AI player's economy can collapse because of stupid things like this xD. It does happen in game, frustrating but still funny. I think it is an elegant mock of us hardcore AoE fans, I think, as we resist the concept of gates, and even more so gates that take forever to be taken down xD. Thanks for participating guys. Making these decisions was not easy considering all entries are funny. Congrats to everyone! A classic example of one of the most prevalent issues in Age of Empires, turned into the most funny way one could ever imagine! This made me laugh so much, hence it being the winning entry for me. They say the old are wise. Apparently, not so much when the elderly join the traffic... causing massive slowdowns and frustration! An awesome entry and a worthy 2nd place. Archimedes loved to experiment and invent. A genius ahead of his time, the man tries to invent a toaster, which turned him into toast instead! Karma is a *****. Woodcutters love cutting off their route so they don't get lost. Even at the height of the ancient times, shortcuts were the way to go... This goes to show the shortest route isn't always the best one! According to Wikipedia, The rise of Rome can be accounted to it's immense amount of rice fields surrounding the Colloseum, keeping the plebs fed - hence the nickname "Rice of Rome". Congratulations to the winners, and thank you all for making us laugh! Oh man this has a classic ring to it. I also particularly like how it plays on the AoE series' core concept of technological advancement, and how it doesn't seem to do anything for the general level of education of those poor villagers. Poor old man, somebody ought to have researched Polytheism. I was actually sursprised at the lack of earlier agetoons using this concept. Still I can't help but feel this would've been more effectful if you could actually see the units walking and piling up behind the priest. The thought of Archimedes repeadetly trying and failing to invent a toaster is just hilarious. Seriously though how did people in those times live without toasted bread? What can I say, I find pathfinding gags funny. I mean, we've all seen these things happen, and it's sort of a unique feature for AoE because our pathfinding is awful compared to later games. Mocking the way computers inefficiency at this simple task is just a given hit. I think part of what made this funny to me is that at first I didn't even notice the change in typing. Initially I was questioning wheter Aracuan had even understood the point of the contest, as I dumbfounded stared at the picture I thought "what is he even trying to do here?" Then I noticed the oh so slight change in the title and I realized what effort Aracuan had put into making this extremely simple pun. I think most of the enjoyment I get out of this is unintentional, I just really like the way Aracuan struggles to create something resembling a rice field in AoE only to make such a simple joke. Haha, yeah, thank god we didn't listen to Bob and put gates in Definitve Edition. I'm definitely on the side of the other villagers. Call me a purist but gates are just redundant complexitity when you can raze your own walls with the click of a button. The scoring total is based on how much points were given, similar to the Granary rating system. That means: 1st place - 5 points 2nd place - 4 points 3rd place - 3 points 4th place - 2 points 5th place - 1 point The total amount of points is then divided by 3 (each judge). The results are really close! Bassi: 1 + 0 + 0 / 3 = 0.3 points total, Last place |
