@Thompsoncs: I got 17MB for .zip (using Windows' built-in zip function) versus vs your 13MB .rar file.
I'm not sure if the 4MB savings is worth the extra step.
But if you really want to shrink your file smaller, you might want to try 7-Zip. It reportedly compresses better than rar, and is free open source software.
But again, every "extra step" is bad for the end user. When I have time I'm going to consolidate Composite Editor 1.1 into a single download.
Edit - Compression comparison test on Age of Italy Mod (by compressing the extracted folder at highest possible compression settings):
Original .rar file: 13.1MB
7-Zip .7z file: 12.9MB
Zip file only:
.zip using Windows: 17.0MB
.zip using 7-Zip: 15.7MB
Conclusion: You can save 0.2MB using .7z or use only 2.6MB more using .zip in 7-Zip.
@Phatfish: I just have two things to say: Thanks, and thanks!
