Hi Centy. I'd like to join. I'm taking some time off from designing, and figured I'd have some fun with this. Maybe I'll even get an idea for a scenario or campaign out of it. I know I can't win, but figured I could do something at least interesting.
Here's my starting gig:
I want to be a Celt somewhere in northern Gaul. The Celts were known for their awesome ships, so I'd like to start as a carpenter, and make the most of it. Carpenters are also strong, and can collect on their debts, so here's what I'll buy with my initial 1250.
Gladius-350, bronze-scale armor-500, bronze helmet-150. If I'm a good carpenter, I should be strong enough to two-hand any enemies and need no shield. Guess we'll see how it goes.
I'll also get a transport ship for 250. My goal in the game is to eventually reach Britannia and build a navy to attack the Romans at sea. I'll have 50 left over to spend later I guess. I had a question on money, too. Can we borrow money from other players, like interest? And, can we buy things from other players, or sell our old stuff when we buy new stuff?
As far as my game strategy, here are my first moves:
I'm a carpenter, and have a transport ship, so I need to find a place to shack up in a port city, likely in northern Gual, but maybe even along the rivers of central Europe, if the situation finds me there. I'll work for pay as a carpenter, but try to find building ships. Since I already own a transport, I'll have the opportunity to tear it down and inspect it with my carpentry skills. My first goal is to find a local rich guy who'll finance me building a fast raiding ship, since I don't have the cash. Unless of course, any players can help me out with this, I'd welcome it.
Although I'm a carpenter, I have a Gladius, so I'll take a part-time job as a warlord or whatever. If it doesn't go well, I can get in my transport and leave!
